Texarkana TX 35,629 Texarkana AR 29,473 Total = 65,102 was 37,389 and 30,155 = 67,544 in 2016 Tyler 105,995 (metro 237,027) was 101,946 Longview 81,638 (metro 233,358) was 82,184 DFW metro 7.63 million was 5.12 million Houston metro 7.12 million was 4.94 million Austin metro 2.28 million was 1.36 million San Antonio 2.56 million was 1.76 million the metro areas are exploding outward...especially DFW, Houston, and Austin!!! hence the growth we are seeing in some of these outer school districts... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also a little growth in Northern Longview and Hallsville. Its the only reason Lee/Legacy is the only 6a school left in East TX. Most of areas outside the big metro areas are staying about the same or declining. To be honest, the huge growth of the Hispanic population is really what is keeping most of the steady population of the smaller cities and towns and likely one of the main reasons for huge growth in the metro areas. One of those areas includes a huge parcel of land currently being proposed for development of tons of homes and townhomes.......but being met with lots of opposition from the AISD and community.
