stevosev7 Posted October 3, 2021 Share Posted October 3, 2021 Chisum does have a beast at RB. And just got arguably their 2nd best player back last week. Yes, the pre district schedule wasn’t the strongest, but they took care of business rather than the Chisum of old who may let the lesser teams hang around. Pewitt has history, culture, tradition on their side. Still have a couple of sophomores from the state title team who are now Seniors. Played an extremely tough pre district schedule, (which, get rid of the Celina game. It benefits no one).  Overall, Pewitt will be the favorite as they should be, but if they sleep on Chisum they’ll regret it. Chisum RB is really good, but let's be honest, Prairiland defense held him under 100 yards or at least right around it, for the game by keying in on him. Take away a 40 or so yard TD run and he had mediocre #'s. Definitely better as a LB. If Prairiland doesn't have a botched hook & ladder in the 4th, Chisum very easily could have lost that game.  Should be a good game but I don't see Chisum getting them as Pewitt shuts down the main RB. I still see it as a 3 horse race for the final 2 spots between Dekalb, Chisum, and Hooks though. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Who’s down on Pewitt? MV has been demolishing everyone. Celina is the #3 team in 4AD2. Paul Pewitt could’ve backed out but they stepped to the plate. The following week Boerne backed out on Celina and they’re 4A. Winnsboro was down to Pewitt in the 4th. Bad call shifted momentum after that. Finally they get to district, and faced a good Hooks team, they get 426 rushing yards and 7 rushing TD’s. 1 passing TD as well. Big difference between Honey Grove/Rivercrest and Mt Vernon/Celina. This game will not be close. There will be no close games this week in District 10. Pewitt will route Chism. Daingerfield will route Prairieland. DeKalb will route Redwater. Now next week will be a great game between Paul Pewitt and DeKalb. I was speaking in general about winning teams fan base when they lose some. People who don't follow football just see the lose and freak out. Obviously, you follow football and get it. Being from Daingerfield it was tough to get the crowds pumped up because they expect to win State every year. Pretty tough standards to keep up.
