2A Division 1 Region 3 Playoffs

As far as the brackets: it’s not as complicated as one would think. 1 seeds match up with 4 seeds and 2s play 3s. The top of the bracket is the 1 vs 4 from Districts 9 and 10 and 2 vs 3 from Districts 11 and 12. Visa versa on the bottom of the bracket. Based on the presumed finishing order just posted, I’ve got the following matchups:

 1 Timpson vs 4 Frankston

2 Thorndale vs 3 Normangee

1 Beckville vs 4 Garrison

2 Alto vs 3 Holland

1 Centerville vs 4 Thrall

2 Joaquin vs 3 Hawkins

1 Hearne vs 4 Leon

2 Carlisle vs 3 Shelbyville

The winner of a 1-4 game will play the winner of the 2-3 directly below them in round 2.

If this is how it ends up this could be really interesting out of the gate. Carlisle/Shelbyville would IMO the best match up. Joaquin/Hawkins right behind that.

I don’t see any of the 1/4 games being close. The 2/3 games always present some good matchups.

For District 12 - What I can find….

1) Hearne

2) Thorndale

3) Holland

4)Thrall

5)Rosebud-Lot

Looks like Bruceville and Moody are eliminated or need a lot of help to get in. Not sure of the scenarios here but looks like Hearne is locked into the #1 spot regardless.

For District 12 I think Holland is ahead of Thorndale right now because Thorndale has 2 losses (Thrall & Hearne) while Holland only has 1 (Thorndale). However, should Thrall beat Holland next game, then Thorndale moves into 2nd place because Holland would have 2 losses and Thorndale has the head to head with them. Hearne has 1 loss and that is to Holland.

Clear as mud? 🤣🤣🤣

Got some new information so here are the standings  as of now for District 12.

1) Holland - 1 loss to Thorndale and has the head to head on Hearne - Plays Thrall - will clinch district title with a win.

2) Hearne - 1 loss to Holland- plays Moody who is winless. Can clinch district title with a win and Holland loss. Would be the 2 seed with a win and Holland win.

3) Thrall - 2 losses - plays Holland - has head to head over Thorndale - losses to Hearn and Rosebud Lott.  Win over Holland they clinch a spot in the playoffs, a loss they could fall out if Rosebud wins.

4) Thorndale - 2 losses - has a bye - losses to Hearne and Thrall- Has the head to head over Holland and Rosebud Lott. Pretty much clinched a playoff spot. Would have to have Hearne to lose to be eliminated

5) Rosebud-Lott - 3 losses to Holland, Thorndale and Hearne - Plays Bruceville-Eddy, Has the head to head over Thrall. Would need Thrall to lose and to win this week to get in.

Bruceville and Moody are eliminated.

Not even going to start on the math if Hearne loses. Even worse if Holland and Hearne lose.

So looking at this again… looks like if Thrall takes out Holland and Hearne takes care of Moody, it would end up - 1) Hearne, 2) Thrall, 3) Thorndale, 4)Holland.  I just don’t see Moody picking up a win this week over Hearne.

This is the scenario I figure is going to play out.

The only upset I can see if this ends up being the seeding is shelbyville over Carlisle

Don't count Hawkins out early, they aren't as good as last year but they still have some genuinely good athletes playing this season, and they are good against the interior run game,Joe will have to get em on the edges and throw some 🤷‍♂️

I was looking at it and didn’t see much chance of them not being the 3.

Alto vs. Thorndale @ Mexia, 7:30 p.m.

Coach at Thorndale says they are locked in as the 3 seed. 🤷‍♂️ Lol MaxPreps says the same thing. Guess it’s Thorndale!
