Paris  17

Argyle 14

Halftime

Paris showed up ready to take it to Argyle tonight, and have played very clean so far.  Argyle left their "A" game in the locker room to start this game and now are behind the 8-ball because Paris knows how to eat clock like a hungry bear.  Paris has byyyy far controlled the time of possession.  Argyle missed an opportunity with a holding penalty.......but really it's been Paris controlling the ball.  I think Paris punted twice and Argyle twice.

Melissa  14

Kaufman  0

Halftime

Neither starting QB is playing......Kaufman did get inside the Melissa 10, but was thrown for a big loss and then missed what the Kaufman kicker would consider as a chip shot for him.  He can kick em 40+ yards in his sleep.  The game is still tight with the backup QB's in there.

Paris will get the ball to start the 2nd half.......they had a long score by Tydrick and then completed several long passes and medium range ones in the first half to get those scores.  Their backs are fast in the open field and the secondary is having trouble keeping up with their speed.  Hohenberger is playing like the senior QB you would expect.......he's making the plays so far.

Argyle missed a score when the the tight end bobbled the ball in the endzone and then the Paris defender hit him and he dropped it.  On 4th down they ran it from the 11 and stopped at the one.  Paris was held to the one yard line.....and on 3rd down threw an interception to the Paris 40(kinda like a punt result).  Argyle scores in 4 plays.

Middle of the 3rd.......Argyle controlling the game now.

Copeland hits 6-6 Wayne Pritts on a pass and he breaks a tackle, runs it down to the 5 yd line for a 45 yd pass play.  Now Shoemake runs it in.

Lyrick Treadwell breaks thru and goes untouched for a long TD run for Paris.  That guy is just good.  No Argyle defender could get close to him.

Kaufman has lived in the red zone all night, but only a safety to show for it.

It’s Melissa 14-2 with 4 minutes left in that game.

Five in the Red Zone ... nothing to show for it ... Melissa made the plays on defense when they had to ... Kaufman moved the ball better than I thought after hearing all the chatter about Melissa's D ...

Bi-district pairings should be:

  • Melissa vs. North Dallas
  • Argyle vs. Wilmer-Hutchins
  • Paris vs. Lincoln
  • Kaufman vs. Carter

Good luck to all the district brethren ... they were about 8 seconds away from a sweep last year ....

End of the regular season and the first time in 13 straight seasons that Argyle did NOT win the District Title.  Congrats to the Melissa Cardinals on their fine season and their District Title.  Congrats to the Paris Wildcats for a very good game against a very good Argyle defensive unit.....they put up 30 pts tonight.  And congrats to the Kaufman Lions for advancing to the playoffs this year with a very fine season in a very tough and competitive District 7 4A D-1.

This will be Argyle's last home game in this stadium in Class 4A.   They will be moving up to Class 5A next season.

Well Heckfire........I spoke too soon!   Looks like Argyle will be playing Wilmer Hutchins next week IN ARGYLE!!   They get another game in this stadium as a 4A school.  Couldn't be happier for the players, the parents, the seniors, and the community.
