Joaquin needs to - uhhmm - diversify its play calling.

JHS ran that same little play with #3 dragging across the line and it never gained anything. Seemed like they ran that play 15 times.
The QB CAN throw the ball and the Rams must (not should) MUST throw the ball at least ten times a game in order for the run game to actually succeed.

Agree 100% been saying that for a while. Even when they have a good quarterback they don’t throw the ball. They’d rather try to run the ball and do the same plays over and over that DONT WORK!

FYI wasn't being a smart a__ at all. I've said forever Surratt is the best high school coach in Texas. That being said #7 should come to Beckville so coach Ross could bring out his full potential lol.

Oh, zero offense taken, and there are many really good coaches out in the world just not as good as Surratt (🙂).

Hopefully we get to play again this year.  Looking forward to it!

When Timpson spreads B’ville out and Harris and Williams are in coverage then who gonna tackle Bussey...... B’ville is good but against a spread attack Cats will be compromised.... especially Timpson’s spread

Before we go full on “the sky is falling in Joaquin” mode, let’s analyze the whole season now that it’s over. As has been covered, the bellcow of our defense went down in the Logansport scrimmage, forcing a shuffle of personnel on that side of the ball. Lost the starting QB and leader of the secondary in week 5. The staff had no choice but to insert a freshman at QB prior to the start of the district schedule. So let’s look at that situation. Freshman QB is not built to run the option package they had installed for the junior. Played the entire district schedule with the base offense. So here’s the results. Look at the wins first. Groveton, Ore City, Clarksville, San Augustine and Shelbyville combined to finish with 21 wins (so far) and two playoff appearances (Clarksville and Shelbyville). Shelbyville is still playing and has a shot at regional finals. Not exactly murderer’s row, but aside from the Garrison game, they won the games they were supposed to win. Now the losses: Beckville (twice), EF, Timpson and Garrison combined to go 33-7 (so far) and 3 of them are still playing. EF is a 3A that could make a run. The one “bad” loss was to a very talented, but inconsistent Garrison team where our kids fought back from being down 14 to put themselves in position to win. 5 of those teams 7 losses were by that Garrison team. The other two were by EF to a pair of 3A playoff teams. Beckville and Timpson are both unbeaten and on a collision course for a donnybrook in regional semifinals. So when you put some context on it, 5-5 is disappointing, but probably not as bad as it sounds. We’re losing some really good players (2 offensive and 3 defensive starters), but bringing back a ton of experienced kids. Realignment will be interesting. I don’t see any way we wind up in a district that isn’t really tough, but we will be one of the teams that make it that way.

I would not waste my time explaining.  4 loses to top teams in the state. You stay healthy you are a top 10 team this year. I've watched tons of bad football and yall don't fall in that category.

Lawson does a great job.

People are stupid who think otherwise.
