Either you build a better mousetrap or you fall behind. Capitalism doesn't force anyone to purchase their product, Socialism and Communism do. There are a few menu items that I like that Taco Bell makes, and they don't give me the runs. Everyone on Smoaky knows I love Pancho's, and I ate there two weeks ago. Maybe, the reason those businesses fail, is we all like to joke about places we shop or eat at. I loved Monkey Wards and Gipsland's back in the day vs. Wally World. The best new thing comes along and some want to flock to it. What they're selling doesn't make it better, but what if we could only purchase the same thing over and over ? Life would be dull. EnjoyLife
Capitalism creates more wealth, innovation and opportunity than any other...but even capitalism still needs to be constrained to a degree. Money begats money and without reasonable regulations and strong worker protections more and more money will concentrate at the top just like it does in a marxist economy. Spoken LIKE a true Marxist......in a totally laissez faire capitalist economy no regulation is needed.......

No regs would be needed if people could be trusted to always do the right thing. Problem is that people can not be trusted to do the right thing...especially when it comes to money. Without regulations in place those people could not be held accountable. Not that it really matters...just a dozen years ago the uber-capitalists on Wall St almost plunged the entire world into a new Great Depression and no one was held accountable...despite all the "financial irregularities" that had taken place. Maybe we are talking about two different things. If you are saying that the govt should not play favorites (ie...GMs bailout)...I agree. If you are saying that the free market should pick winners and losers...I agree. If you are saying that capitalists should have no regulations governing their actions (ie...claiming there is 24 ounces of soda in the bottle when there is only 21 ounces or pumping their toxic waste straight into the Sabine River) as long as people are still willing to buy their product...I disagree. The only thing I'm against are monopolies where the market is cornered. It doesn't bother me if a company is large however as long as there is competitive competition. I recently read that GE is breaking up, but it has a lot of competitors. I want to have the ability to comparatively shop. I could buy the cheaper but similar product, but if the more expensive product is better or has more durability I'll go with the more expensive product. You will never see me purchase any clothing at Wal Mart, because their clothing is inferior to name brand clothing that will last longer. Heck you can buy clothing at a thrift store that will last longer than their cheap made clothing.

If they are too stupid to use the products they purchase then they deserve a Darwin Award. We have too many labels on products today, because of idiots that don't know how to use things properly. In cases that use chemicals in the medical, agriculture, electronics, and a few other goods that we use then yes. That is why I don't like that the vaccinations are protected by the Government from future lawsuits. I've used baby powder in the past, especially in the summer to keep the bed cooler, but now they say it causes cancer and people are being awarded thousands as if it were asbestos ? That's ridiculous. I also don't think the tobacco companies should have lost their case. We've known since the 60's that smoking and dipping cause cancer. In my opinion users of those products accept the risk, especially with the warnings on the packages, but I don't even think those were needed for anyone with half a brain. American Automakers farmed out their Computer chip manufacturing to China, and now, Millions upon millions of brand new automobiles sit idle in hundreds of acres of automobiles that Cannot be driven, because they have no brain. The “Big Three”, in their corporate greed have shot themselves in the foot by trying to manufacture tire their goods as cheaply as possible so they can maximize their “bottom line” & make their stockholders happy. I have no pity for them, because they did this to themselves, & they won’t learn, & continue to put themselves in position to hostages to Beijing.
