For all you socialist libnuts.....caveat emptor means the consumer alone is responsible for checking the quality of goods before a purchase is made.....

Yes, Latin for (roughly) "Let the buyer beware".

As I've noted before, Capitalism in and of itself is amoral. There's nothing wrong with that. It's actually a perfectly fine economic system.

I am selling something. You want it. Nobody's forcing me to sell it, and nobody's forcing you to buy it. If I have the thing you want, and my "asking price" is acceptable, than we make an exchange. You receive what I am selling, I receive the "asking price".

If they are too stupid to use the products they purchase then they deserve a Darwin Award.  We have too many labels on products today, because of idiots that don't know how to use things properly.

Bill Engvall mentions this in his "Here's your sign" thing...

"Did you know on a tube of Preparation H it says 'Do not take this orally'? That's sad, isn't it?"

Is it ok for a seller/business to lie, deceive and mis-represent their product to potential buyers?

No, but that's what we have a legal system for. If I sell you a product and I tell you it's not dangerous, and it is, and you injure yourself even being careful, then you can sue me for misrepresentation and selling you a defective product. Also, don't you have a bit of responsibility to research the product and ask questions if you can? And then, if you tell others, and/or others have a similar experience, people will stop buying from me for selling dangerous products, and I'd go out of business.

Again, Capitalism is "amoral".

We do have laws in place to prevent a lot of that, but I know @RETIREDFAN1 would probably argue that laissez faire Capitalism has mechanisms built into it that would reduce things like that.

Even with our current system, with all the laws and regulations, people and companies still do those things.
