Daily Christian Living

Paul wrote to the Philippians concerning the importance of living the life of a faithful Christian every single day of our lives.

Philippians 4:8-9

If you were accused of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? There are a lot of people who claim an affiliation with the church when it is comfortable, but they fail to really commit to Jesus every day. Jesus gave us the requirement for daily Christian living.

Luke  9:23

The first thing we must do is to start thinking like a Christian. We have to get our minds right. We have to desire to live like a Christians daily. This means we must have a strong desire to do God’s will. Do you want to do God’s will.  Paul wanted to.

Acts 9: 6

The Philippian jailer wanted to.

Acts 16: 30

How about you? Do you love the Lord?

Mark 12:30

Next, we have to learn to deny ourselves.

Romans 12: 1 - 2

Denial of self means we are willing to push selfish wants and desires out of the way and do what God wants us to do. Maybe we used to drink.

Ephesians 5: 18

Maybe we used to curse.

Colossians 3: 8

Maybe we haven’t been used to attending the gathering of the saints faithfully.

Luke 14:18

Whatever it is, we must learn to deny ourselves and live a Christian life.

We can see some characteristics of daily Christian living illustrated for us in the New Testament. One of those is to talk and act like a Christian. This can be done by having a daily Bible study. The Bereans did this.

Acts 17: 11

If we had to stand before the Lord and tell Him how often we study our Bible, many of us would be embarrassed.

Proverbs 15:28

Our Spiritual strength must be based on God’s Word.

 Psalm 119:11-12

Another characteristic of daily Christian living is saying a daily prayer.

I Thessalonians 5: 17

Psalm 86: 3 - 7

We most definitely need to be a more prayerful people, following the example shown by Jesus.

Mark 1:35

Prayer does many great things.

James 5: 16

Daily exhortation is a characteristic of Christian living.

Hebrews 3: 12 - 13

Daily benevolence is a characteristic of Christian living.

James 1: 27

What are some things that should motivate us to start living daily Christian lives? Here’s one.

Acts 17: 31

Matthew 24: 36

The two sure things in the world are that the Lord is coming.

I Thessalonians 4: 16 - 17

Another is that the world will end.

II Peter 3: 10

The motivating question should be, are you ready?

James 4:14

If not, then you need to get ready by being obedient to God’s will.

Matthew 7: 21

Are you living daily as a follower of Christ? Are you willing to make changes in your daily life?

Living faithfully unto death means we recognize that we sin, and we repent daily of our sins, confessing them to God and asking for His mercy and forgiveness. Always remember to do that.

I John 1: 8 - 10
