I seen a stat yesterday that 1480 players had entered the portal. There's no way this is good for college football.

Seen another stat Iโ€™ll try to find but itโ€™s basically 30/35% of kids that enter portal wonโ€™t have anywhere to play.ย

Heard that as well, but I thought the percentage was higher than that.

Isn't this his second transfer? Does this mean he has to sit out a year?ย

ย

EDIT: Doh! I should've read the article before I commented. He'd be a grad transfer: immediately eligibility. ๐Ÿ‘

Yea, sure was. ย College football is back to that. ย Recruiting classes are going to get expensiveย

Honestly, it's almost safer now to stop recruiting HS freshmen and save your money for when they hit the transfer portal, developed and more mature.

This is sort of similar to Kansas st and how they have consistently hit the JC circuit hard for guys to fill out their roster.ย

Yes, this. Big time. The program that figures this out first is gonna be the next gamechanger in CFB.ย

Why sign some high school hotshot who either flames out or starts looking for the bigger payday after his first season? Better to shop around and money-whip proven guys, who can't bail on you unless they're grads.ย

Spavital is doing this at Texas State. They have signed 8 high schoolers in the last two classes. The rest have been transfers.ย

Yeah, that's cool.

Right now it seems that high school vs. transfer portal recruiting ratio is something like 90/10.ย

If this NIL wild west stuff isn't brought into some semblance of structure, it's gonna be 50/50 (or worse) pretty damn quick.ย

Maybe that's a good thing?ย

I don't think it is.
