Coach Rab
Some of you may not have known, but @MattStepp, my main guy I look to for TXHSFB news has been hospitalized for a while with a staph infection. He has taken on quite some medical expenses that I hope we as a community can assist him with in some way. Stoney
If you know Matt Stepp, he's probably done you a favor at the drop of a hat over the years. He's an integral part of the fabric of the Texas football community, and it's hard to imagine Friday nights without him. But that was a scary reality we all could have been facing just a couple weeks ago. While visiting his wife and daughters in Ontario for Christmas, during the week of December 27, Matt contracted COVID and simultaneously developed a life-threatening staph infection and was immediately admitted to the hospital, where he's been for over a week. While his prognosis has improved, he will require many more weeks of costly supervised treatment to get out of the woods. Not wanting to to stir up a fuss, he's kept this news private, in perhaps the least surprising part of all of it.Matt and his wife Lesley are not the kind of people looking for pity, but because of their unique situation, where they have to split time between two countries, some of Matt's expenses are not covered by his medical insurance while being hospitalized outside the United States. So a significant portion of his life-saving treatment is out-of-pocket.While they have not yet received all of their bills, Matt and Lesley are estimating it will be around $50,000, so that's where we're setting our goal.
