Girls golf. —————— The $ will be there for salary to bring top interest. Facilities are top notch. Community support is (had always been) there. We just need someone that loves East Texas and wants to STAY and not use it as a stepping stone to a suburban program. I get the draw to the cities. I do. But there are also plenty of people out there that love small town living. Just gotta find them. I would be living large with that salary in ETX. Wish they would get someone who is from here and not run away after a few "successful" seasons. Gotta build a culture and stay in the for the long haul. Think about Longview...they've had pretty much the same nucleus since the Pat Collins days and hired King from within. Kilgore had Mike Vallery for 10+ years and hired within (later down the road) and got a few state runs. Carthage has Surratt who has no desire to leave and is from here. John Tyler has Holmes who has pulled in some successful seasons and is from here. If you want a program to be successful in ETX you gotta find someone who will stay for the long haul and more than likely is from the area or wants to finish in this area. But what do I know... Seems a little on the low end to me... I wonder if that is up for negotiations and/or if it might turn some potential candidates away. $118k is nothing to laugh at but wasn't Griedl making $120k? My opinion is to get someone who isn't going to leave in 2 years for now. That was my argument earlier in the posts.
