MoCo
Contenders for the region - Daingerfield, West Rusk, Newton Uneducated opinion... District 9 1. West Rusk - Return just about everything from a good team. Will get winner of Daingerfield/Newton in the 4th round. 2. Troup 3. Arp 4. Edgewood District 10 1. DeKalb - Tough physical team with good talent coming up. Slight edge over Pewitt. 2. Pewitt - Return a lot, but need to see how they make up for the loss of Black. No surprise at all if they won the district. 3. Hooks - Could see them finishing anywhere 1-3. Should be a fun team to watch. 4. Chisum - Good group that plays hard, just not as athletic as the top teams in the district. Did play Hooks to a 2 point game though. District 11 1. Daingerfield - Contender for a title. Talent everywhere. Will win the region and play Gunter/Canadian at AT&T. 2. Waskom - Keeling's emphasis on the weight room and physicality was good enough to keep Waskom as a top tier team, even with graduation and loss of coaches and key pieces. They'll take a step back from last year's production, but not a big step. 3. Elysian Fields - Good program with a lot of pride, but loss of head man and not a lot coming up from subvarsity groups. Still never know in rivalry games when they square off against Waskom. 4. Harmony - Slight edge over Hughes Springs, and wouldn't be surprised if the Mustangs were in this spot. Usually fun baseball to watch though. District 12 1. Newton - Bring back a lot. Still Newton. Will play Daingerfield Thanksgiving weekend. 2. New Waverly 3. Kountze 4. Hemphill

Hemphill Pretty good prediction. If I had to make a prediction for each district it would look very similar to this. West Rusk and Daingerfield should be the top 2 teams in the region. You never know though, there could be a sleeper team that sneaks up and surprises people.

Agreed, and at this level there’s a huge premium on who’s healthy when you go through the playoffs, and you have to have some luck bounce your way. You usually have to go through a gauntlet getting out of this region.
WestRusk2009
I could see Edgewood at 2 seed in District 9. Upon further research they seem to be a scrappy team that will greatly benefit from dropping down.

Ijustwatch
I’m predicting Hughes 2nd place EF More talent than you think Waskom- I think you will see the loss of keeling a lot more than you think. Ef takes backs the rivalry.

Ef takes backs the rivalry. Waskom brings back a coach who is very familiar with the EF rivalry, plus even though Waskom lost a lot in coaches and players we do bring back a 3 year starter in Hamilton and have some speedster on defense that will play both ways this year as running backs. Waskom's OL will be the big question, I don't think EF takes back the rivalry at all.

Nobody is going back to the 90's Waskom will continue winning EF will be one of those wins.
Ijustwatch
We will see that’s why it’s a prediction. Not saying Pearson isn’t a good fit. But what Keeling did in Waskom won’t be duplicated. It was almost a miracle the success Waskom has had. You will see. I know deep down Wild you were upset when y’all hired a Soccer guy 10-12 years ago. Now you will be mad you didn’t hire another one. MoCo
It’s just hard to fall apart that fast when they lived in the weight room. Does Waskom have a weak class from the 7th grade up that could set them back? Obviously it’s yet to be seen if Pearson can maintain what Keeling was able to build, but taking a step back for Waskom right now still means competing for district championships. Waskom has a very good 8th grade team moving up, I think they may have 3 players that can play varsity this year though one of them might need to play JV. 8th grade did not lose a game and 7th grade only lost to Hughes Springs. Waskom's biggest question will be at QB and the OL but the QB position is looking up right now.

They have experience at QB and young skill guys who are talented. Big question is their line play on both sides. They are not big and lost lots experience on both sides. Could be a fun group to watch.

Seems like DeKalb has several really good backs and that pistol wishbone (or whatever they want to call it) was nasty.
