I wounder why they put Hubbard on back burner.

I'm not shocked that Hubbard would get the best looking school...LOL. They probably have to build in another location, but where would that be. Cumberland has taken some of the available space near there.  Maybe they go south.

If they would have done Moore, 3 Lakes, and Hubbard 1st. There would have been a uproar from the North side of town going crazy. Oh they don't care about us. I can see it now. That's my opinion anyway. Lol. Hubbard will be built in the same spot as the other original Hubbard.

Here's our composite schedule for 7-5A Division I as of now. Not sure if anyone will have two scrimmages from this district or not, but left it open just in case. Added the ones I was able to find so far.

Obviously dates are subject to change (with the Thursdays and multiple multi school ISDs in our district).

Updated with Lufkin schedule.

they have built 16 new elementary schools, 3 middle and 2 high schools, they could have did hubbard sometime in between all of those schools or at the same time. It just seem strange that they have waited well after the others, and needed to pass another bond package just to get it done instead of including it in the original bonds with the others.

I disagree. You can only ask for so much money. Remember a couple of bonds failed. 2001 a $293 million dollar bond failed. 2010 a $90 million dollar bond failed. The 2013 bond was $160 million. They built 3 middle schools, CTC, and finished the 2 remaining elementary schools. I knew when they wanted a bond for the high schools, they was not worried about Hubbard. They had a plan that worked well for the tax payers of Tisd. Some places can ask for all the bond money at one time. I don't believe East Texas can. We have to make small ones over the course of time. And they not just building Hubbard by itself. Remember they are including a Early College School.

227 million dollar bond package in Longview.

Involves renovations and updates to Lobo Stadium and Lobo Coliseum...

Indoor also coming to Loboland.

It's gotta pass first, hoss.  ;)

Confirmed Longview's game against McKinney Boyd will be on Friday. Temple @ McKinney set for the Saturday game.

Would assume the North on Thursday, Boyd on Friday, McKinney High on Saturday arrangement will remain in 2023, when Longview heads back to McKinney to take on the Lions for the first time since 1937.

I see Lufkin is doing what I suggested to Cujonation83 on how they should do their sub varsity games. They will meet in Tyler and play Forney at 🌹 Stadium.

The district came up with a North and South district. So every sub varsity team will not play each other. The south will play each other twice and same with the north.

Haven't really given my thoughts on this district yet, but I really believe that it's an interesting, exciting district.

Never thought that I'd see Longview and Lufkin back in the same district again....and it happened for the first time in nearly two decades. Best rivalry in the state and having Tyler High in the mix as well almost gives you a feel of nostalgia from the old days.

If you're a fan of skill position talent....boy is this the district to watch, specifically at WR. Jalen Hale (Longview), Cordale Russell (North Mesquite) and Montrell Wade (Tyler) headline a district full of talent wideouts. 5* Hale is ranked the top WR in TX, 5th in the nation. Not too far behind is NM's Cordale Russell, a 4* ranked 7th in TX with over 20 offers. Tyler High's Montrell Wade is a very strong 3* prospect who has added 3 offers since the season ended, bringing his total to 9.

Other D1 talented wideouts around the district:

Korbin Hendrix (McKinney North)

JT Wright (Longview)

Markavion Potts (Tyler)

Taylor Offord (McKinney North)

Elijah Baesa (North Mesquite)

As interesting as the district will be this year, next year could be extremely competitive. Several teams in the district including Longview, Tyler, McKinney North, Lufkin etc have damn good '24 classes.

Interested to see if they will have a district champion or just zone champion for the sub varsities.

South will be Longview, Lufkin, Tyler & Forney.

North will be North Mesquite, West Mesquite, McKinney North and Lancaster.

As you said, Lufkin and Forney will play their 2 times in Tyler.

Personally would've loved to have seen Longview's sub varsities take on Lancaster, and sucks for us in DFW in terms of not getting to see our sub varsities as much (against the Norths & West etc) but ah well.

Fresh off a stellar sophomore season.

Shep and fellow '24 DE Billy Smith are going to wreak havoc up front for Longview the next two years. Shep has some strong genetics too, pops tried out for the Green Bay Packers.
