regaleagle
Bailey Maupin(5-11/Sr. guard) signed with the Texas Tech Lady Raiders last week......from Gruver. She is something special for a girl out of a Class 2A classification. She does have all the skills and has played against some top competition in those summer leagues. regaleagle
I'm not sure exactly when she actually signed, but she committed last summer in July.
regaleagle
She is a 4-star guard and held over 15 offers from Big 12 and SEC teams, but chose Tech because the coach there came from a small Texas school and understood Maupin's situation coming from a small town in Texas. The relationship will help Maupin.....she said she just feels a connection will be there for her at Tech.
regaleagle
Two Argyle phenoms played Basketball for the Lady Raiders this season.....Vivian Gray leaves for the WNBA after graduation and shooting guard phenom Rhyle(Riley) McKinny transferred after her freshman season when SMU did not play in 2020 to Tech. She averaged quite a few minutes this season with very good numbers and lots of starts. Gray leaves as the leading scorer after transferring from Okie State over the summer. Gray has so many accolades that you should really just google Vivian Gray Bio....or something like that and read about this former Argyle star. She is really, really something special. All-America honors and awards out the kazoo.....the list is too long to write here.
regaleagle
It was very cool to see the two Argyle girls, Lexi Hightower from Amarillo High, and Bryn Gerlich, a soph. Forward from Colleyville Heritage and daughter of first-year Tech head Coach Krista Gerlich from National Div.II Champ. West Texas A& M......all on the floor together in many games this season. Gerlich and Hightower were also transfers into Tech when Krista Gerlich took the coaching position this season. Hightower and Gray graduate, but Bryn Gerlich and McKinney each have 2 and 3 seasons left respectively. Gerlich transferred in from Okie State for her soph season. There was also Tatum Veitenheimer(5-8/Jr.Guard) from Windthorst that transferred into Tech this season from Okalahoma to play for the Lady Red Raiders this season. Tech should be very solid in Women's basketball as they build an excellent base of recruits/transfers for the future.

regaleagle
Maupin for Gruver starts the scoring with a 3 from the top of the key after a steal on her own end. Now another 3 for Gruver. Up 6-0 here early.
regaleagle
Stamford gets two now.....now Maupin called for traveling at midcourt. Now a 3 pointer for Stamford and we are off to a good game.
regaleagle
A 7-0 run for Stamford to lead 7-6 now. Maupin is double and triple teamed sometimes.
regaleagle
Looks like Stamford can play darn good defense....and have some height under the rim for those rebounds on both ends. Now Stamford up by one again. Now Maupin goes inside again for another score.
regaleagle
10-9 Gruver on a back and forth start.

regaleagle
Both teams literally ice cold.....no joking. Both teams are nervous it appears.
regaleagle
Gruver has the lead on an 11-2 run at 19-11....Stamford with the ball.
regaleagle
Stamford makes one of two free throws and now a long 3 missed by Gruver, but rebounded by Butler for another 2 for Gruver.
regaleagle
Stamford having trouble penetrating the Gruver defense and missing from the outside. Lots of turnovers by Stamford.....just not on their game yet. Turnover city by Stamford and thanks to misses by Gruver......they have gotten some breaks, but then make poor passes and ball control to turnover it again. Now Gruver gets another score. regaleagle
Lots of missed shots and opportunites by both teams in a messy game. That's the buzzer as Maupin tosses it from beyond midcourt. Gruver 23 Stamford 14 Halftime It could be alot worse for Stamford with all the missed shots Gruver had.....but Stamford had just as many.....some easy right under the rim for both teams.
