regaleagle
Watching the Friendswood/Mansfield Legacy 5A matchup now at Dell Diamond......3-2 in the top of the 4th. Actually.....it's Friendswood batting in the bottom of the 4th and up 3-2.
regaleagle
In the other 5A semifinal at 7 pm it will be heavily favored Georgetown vs Cinderella Frisco Wakeland that managed somehow thru the playoffs to get to this game. Georgetown will fill the stands this evening at Dell Diamond at the same time the Class 4A State Championship game is being played at Disch-Falk Field with Sinton vs Argyle.
regaleagle
Legacy gets out of a loaded bases jam to end the 4th......still 3-2 Friendswood going to the 5th.
regaleagle
My personal opinion is that aluminum bats should be outlawed at the college level. I can see why high schools should be able to use them......lighter weight for more offense, cost of replacing broken wood bats, and the players are not yet fully developed physically to do serious damage on hot shots to the pitcher. But there is no good reason IMO for the use of aluminum bats at the next level past high school.
regaleagle
Besides......using aluminum bats does NOT give an accurate reading for scouts at the minor and major league levels to gauge the true abilities of a hitter when he switches over to using wooden bats. When I graduated high school in the 70's, we all played with wooden bats in high school and summer leagues. When I was in little league in the late 60's.....it was wooden bats. I batted over .600 my senior season using wooden bats......true story.
regaleagle
Friendswood plates another run in the bottom of the 5th.....so now it's 4-2 going to the top of the 6th.
regaleagle
Jacob Rogers for Friendswood is bringing the heat.....he has been clocked at 92 mph on the radar today.
regaleagle
No baserunners for Legacy in the top of the 6th.......Friendswood appears to be the better club both in the field and at the plate today in this one.

regaleagle
Two quality defensive plays in the bottom of the 6th by Legacy to end the inning. Now they move to the top of the 7th trailing Friendswood 4-2. It's do or die time for Legacy now.
regaleagle
Leadoff base hit to right field for Legacy......they need to move him around those bases.
regaleagle
Here comes a relief pitcher for Friendswood. Top of the 7th, runner on first, and no outs.

You can’t win the championship without winning the semifinal. Teams have come up short before pitching their #2 in the semifinals thinking they’d save their stud for the finals.

regaleagle
He gets him looking on the outside corner in 3 pitches to slam the door shut for Friendswood. What a great relief appearance for Casemeier and Friendswood. They will move on to the Class 5A State Championship game.
