Whitehouse all but clinched the district championship Friday night with their OT win over Longview.  Tyler couldn't capitalize on the Longview loss to take sole possession of second place with their loss to MP.  And Texas High leap-frogged PT for the #5 position.

The regular season finale is Tuesday and some monster games are on hand.  Longview will host MP in a huge match.  A Longview win would give the #2 seed to the Lobos, but a loss to MP could possibly drop the Lobos to the #4 seed if Tyler beats Texarkana.  The THS/THS match could see the Lions claim the #2 seed with MP....but a loss could drop them into the #4 seed.  Whitehouse will clinch the district title with a win over Marshall.

Hallsville beat Marshall 8-0

Hallsville, Longview, and PT are all within 3 points of one another headed into the final match of the season.  MP is in sole possession of fourth place.

Tuesday is huge night as Hallsville faces arch rival Hallsville for a possible outright district championship on the line.  Longview and MP will have a grudge-match and Longview could overtake the district title with a win over the Tigers and a Hallsville loss.  Pine Tree could still win the district title with a win over Hallsville and a Longview loss to MP.   Get your popcorn ready

Small correction, Whitehouse's win over the Lobos coupled with Tyler's loss to MP clinched the district title for the Cats. They're up 4 points on 2nd place so no one can catch them with 1 game remaining.

Tough loss for Longview on Friday, no doubt. First loss to Whitehouse came in large part to a red card early on in the game then throw in now two overtime losses.

Still proud of them though. Extremely young team, with almost everyone (apart from 3 players) returning next season. Should be another great district ride next year.

Hoping for an upset by PT vs Hallsville on Tuesday for the Lady Lobos, but not counting on it. Even so, a penalty kick loss for Hallsville would still open the door for Longview to grab the title. Not sure what would happen if Lady Lobos and Lady Cats ended up on 34/35 points a'piece.

Haven’t seen a scoreline for Hallsville/Pine Tree but Lobo soccer Twitter page claiming Lady Lobos won district tonight.

Edit: Mavchamp beat me to it.

Unreal turn around for the Lady Lobos after a really rough start.

Double edit: Lady Lobos softball beat Tyler 13-0. Lobos baseball beat Tyler 10-0.

Looking over at 16-5A:

16-5A MEN'S SOCCER STANDINGS
Nacogdoches (6-1-0) 18 points
Lufkin (5-1-1) 16 points
Humble Kingwood Park (4-2-1) 13 points
Dayton (2-5-0) 6 points
Huntsville (1-4-2) 5 points
New Caney Porter (1-6-0) 3 points

From what I can tell, this district is not doing any type of PK situations after overtime is decided. If so and I just can't find any confirmation, then the points would be slightly off as we've had two ties in this district. But, it definitely feels like a three dog race even though Huntsville has really picked it up with a win and two ties w/Lufkin/Kingwood Park in recent games. With three games remaining, still a ton to be decided.

16-5A LADIES SOCCER STANDINGS
Humble Kingwood Park (7-0-0) 21 points
Lufkin (4-2-1) 13 points
Nacogdoches (4-2-1) 13 points
New Caney Porter (3-3-1) 10 points
Huntsville (1-6-0) 3 points
Dayton (0-6-1) 1 point

With three games remaining, Kingwood Park is a single point away from clinching top spot in the district. Dayton is eliminated. Huntsville has an extreme outside chance. Lufkin and Nacogdoches meet in the final round of district play to end the season so that could easily decide 2nd and 3rd. But Porter still has Nac to play again, so could definitely see the Lady Spartans speak up next week.

The way I understand it, first tie breaker is head to head. So lufkin would be the 2 seed in both mens and womens.

LP beat KP both times in district play 3-0

LP Girls beat and tied  Nac

For now it's a labor of love and a hobby.  I've been wanting to do it for a while.

If there comes a time when it can become more..... that step may come.

Until then....enjoy!
