I wore out a few pairs myself .... Yep, those were standard issue at my school back in the day. I hated them, because they didn't have much ankle support. I did have a pair of Converse leather hightops that were popular in the early 80's, but they wouldn't let us wear our own, because they wanted the team to match. We also wore the old Flash+Dash sneakers for track. Those things sell for $75 now, but I wouldn't pay more than $5 for a pair which is what they cost in the 70's.
