09 you do a good job with your polls.
I was impressed with the Yoemen.   There was huge improvement on the offensive side of the ball for an opener.
Defensive line, linebackers played well.  Once again there are issues with one of our connerbacks that need to be resolved.
The Academy loss to Rogers was a head scratcher.
Jim Ned’s loss to Hawley was another surprise.
The fun has just started.

I'm surprised of the JN lost too because of the opponent but I really don't think they'll be as good as some think.

Cameron, Hitchcock and Hallettsville all had big nights.

A lot of things went well for Cameron last night, but to see this team just flat out dominate up front on both sides of the football was very impressive.   You could not have asked for more than that performance.  The key now is getting better each week as this team obviously has a lot of potential.

Academy was the preseason #1 in the Padilla Poll, so that loss to rival Rogers is shocking.  Madisonville destroying Diboll is also interesting.

I did not have Jim Ned ranked in the preseason.

Imagine if Barbo had stayed, and we didn't have a couple starters out with injury. We still have up too many big plays. But LV's QB and WR (126 yds at half) are legit.

Hope Yoe Nation shows up for the Yoakum game and MAKES NOISE!

Had a nice showing out of Yoe fans over in Lago Vista.
Majority of that yardage was off of the miscues of a single DB.  Yoe out scored the Vikings 28-0 in the third and gave up only 7 in the fourth quarter on a long TD pass which came on the same DB.
Yoe only had 3 penalties for the night.   Nice opener for the Yoemen offensively against a 4a team coming off a semi-finalist season in 3a.

Good job on the analysis 09!

What's the skinny on Yoakum? I heard they could possibly be a top 20.

I have not seen any film on them from this season.  I know last year I felt they should have beaten Academy in bi-district, but the special teams play was some of the worst that I've seen.  Meanwhile, Academy had the best kicker in the state in 3A DI last year, so that was the difference.

They are probably top 20-25 material.  But, Columbus, Hitchcock and Hallettsville also are going to be good.  You're going to see some extremely good bi-district matchups when these two districts meet up.
