I know most viewers here will assume I voted for Argyle to win this one.......but I didn't.  I'm a homer for sure, but the vote is about which team you feel will win.  After viewing both games from last week......it wasn't difficult for me to come to the conclusion that Argyle has some areas that Lovejoy will expose this week. The Eagles would have to make one giant leap in Week 2 to pull out a win this week.....especially since the game is not in Argyle.

Argyle is an incredibly well coached program with amazing community support.  On paper in 2010 Argyle shouldn’t have won that game.  They exposed some serious off-season conditioning issues at Lovejoy that haunted the program for a decade.  Coach Ross has fixed the conditioning at the varsity level, but there appears to be a few issues in the lower levels.  A high off-season ranking can be a curse.  Argyle will come ready to play and won’t quit no matter the score.

Coach Rodgers tries to allow the other coaches on staff control of their specific areas without intervening too much.  I know he must be tempted many times to intervene with the experience he has acquired over the years.......but opts in favor of consulting with these coaches instead to teach them a thing or two in the process also.  Sometimes this results in glaring mistakes on the field......especially early in the season.  But in the long run it's probably the best way to manage all the aspects of the team overall.

#99 and #10 for Argyle are Havoc wreakers on defense...in fact the whole front 7 for Argyle is very good, but the secondary looks a little shaky. Melissa had 2 times with WIDE OPEN WRs that were missed and another time where a WR dropped the ball on a long pass on the strange play early in 3rd that looked like free play due to Multiple AHS players jumping offsides with nothing was called.

The secondary issue will obviously be something Lovejoy feasts on if not improved, so look for Leopards to have big passing night but not sure how effective their run game will be.

Argyle OL good again as they always are and a copy smaller but very slippery hard runners at RB. QB1 is smart and also threat to run. QB2 is young but seems poised. The Eagles WRs also seem quite a bit improved over last year too, so think they will score but will likely be outscored.

Going with Lovejoy 41-32.

That's about it in a nutshell......the QB's each have upsides, but both need more seasoning.  And the secondary had missed assignments in coverages that will be exposed in the form of TD's by Lovejoy tonight.  The heat and cramping last week was off the charts for both teams......and that really hurts the secondary guys moreso than the linemen when facing speedy receivers and a good passing attack.  Hopefully those issues will not be prevalent tonight.

Lovejoy starts this season waaaay ahead of most of its competition.......a complete team of returners and then talented younger players to insert for playing time once they have a comfortable lead.    Plenty of skill guys and 3 quality Qb's on offense, and a very fast and talented D to wreak and wreck havoc against the opposing offense.  Speed guys out the kazoo.......you cannot cover them one on one in space. All 3 Qb's can get them the ball, and the O-line gives them plenty of time to deliver to the open man.

Mix in a quality set of RB's in the running game, and that is the perfect storm against any defense. Then you have a rested defense teeing off and causing turnovers against the opposing offense.......again with tons of speed, size, and talent.......a coaching staff's dream team, for sure.

My "gut feeling" is that QB2 Gailey for Argyle will eventually emerge as the better QB later this season.  I think his poise under pressure and throwing motion is just superior to QB1 Robinson.   Once he feels more comfortable taking control under center and discovers he does have the speed and poise to be more effective throwing on the run.....or just keeping it and running for yardage......then he will begin realizing his full potential.  He does have the tools and arm strength.

Robinson started out in the secondary as a D-back his freshman season on varsity.......and played as an outstanding D-back his soph season.  Last season he moved to Qb as the starter for the first few games, and then Jett Copeland was inserted as the starter midway thru the season and Robinson was again used in the secondary and as a backup QB.  Robinson IS a high quality athlete for sure......just not a pure QB-only type quarterback.  This will be his 4th season on varsity for the Eagles......and that in itself speaks volumes about Robinson's abilities.

So this is radio only no stream or we can watch it?

Not sure either......every other channel on Sportsgram has a "watch" beside it.  This one says "listen".  The Lovejoy people said it would be a video broadcast.  Maybe NFHS has the rights to this game this week.....I dunno.  It IS on NFHS for sure.

Argyle secondary getting burned by being out of position and not covering correctly.  They act like they don't know what they should cover......like they are confused.  Maybe to much coaching up this week and now they just don't know.  It's the secondary......that's it.  Will have to get this corrected right away.

Now Argyle marches it 70 for another score.....they have made the Giant Leap in Week 2.

Argyle  42

Lovejoy  35

Secondary for Argyle a little better now.....made some adjustments mid-first quarter.  Argyle has 376 on the ground so far, and over 500 total in the first half.
