blesseddaily
I saw one in the Winny game and was wondering the same thing...guess it's not a "point of emphasis" this year!!
LetsGoEagles
Agree, watched a ref look at it twice last night and not call it. I guess it’s legal in high school?

The last two weeks I’ve seen a kid go from sprinting to laying flat on his back by being tackled by the back of the jersey/pads. No flag either game.
gamewatcher63
Pendergrass was tackled last night from behind with a horse collar with the tackler falling onto Penni’s back leg and bent him backwards…I just knew he was injured but he was OK
JJ5150
We had one called last night in our game ( Franklin ) vs Mexia . Mexia horse collared one of our running backs at the end of a long run , he was down for a while , but came back strong for the second half . Gen7Dragon
It's not called enough in high school and middle school you can forget it. A lot of horse collar type tackles going on these days since the fundamentals changed to the hawk type tackle. I like the changes and safety rules, but it has led to a lot of sloppy horse collar/ slinging around type tackles.
SUPERKAT17
This rule has going the way of the catch rule...so many elements to it, that it's very confusing. #1 there is no horsecollar foul if ball carrier is still in tackle box. #2 the language of the rule is quite complex. The hands on "horsecollar" area of nameplate area is not automatically a foul. The rule states the ball carrier must be brought down "abruptly". In rules clinics, officials are instructed not to call it if it takes an extended time for the ball carrier to be brought down. So....there is confusion on ALL sides (fans, coaches, officials, fence jockeys, etc)
HJR7
Kilgore got it called on them in the Carthage game. But wasn't so lucky when it happen to a Kilgore player. I guess it just depends on the crew.
