StingEmALTO
Mumphrey rushes for 344 yards, 3 TDs in Alto's win over Indians From staff reports GROVETON - Rashawn Mumphrey was the star of the show for the Alto Yellowjackets on Friday evening at Indian Stadium in Groveton. Mumphrey, a senior, rushed for 344 yards on 25 carries and scored three touchdowns on runs covering 55, 10 and 31 yards, respectively as Alto smacked the Indians, 32-20. The Yellowjacket ground attack racked up 378 total yards in the game, with Alto picking up 467 total yards overall. Keegan Davis went 4-11 for 89 yards passing. He lasered in on Jay Benton for a 60-yard touchdown and hurled a 25-yard touchdown pass to Khalil Reagan, who is a senior. Alto improved to 3-2 with the win while Groveton is now 1-4. Following their upcoming bye week, the Mean Sting will host Mount Enterprise (1-4) on Oct. 7, which will be homecoming in Alto. Mt. Enterprise won its first game of the year by topping Huntsville-Alpha Omega Academy, 58-23, on Friday. https://www.jacksonvilleprogress.com/sports/mumphrey-rushes-for-344-yards-3-tds-in-altos-win-over-indians/article_0682e240-3c1f-11ed-972c-1f8a6fba4326.html

It was a battle. We were up 12-0 and had them 4th and long in the first quarter when we committed a pass interference. They ended up scoring. So it was 12-7. Then we drove down (they really didn’t have an answer for Rashawn Mumphrey) and made it 20-7. But our defense allowed a score to make it 20-14 and then they had a stop when we were driving. 20-20 at the half and we had a ballgame! We came out in the second half and shut them down. Had a couple 4th downs where we stopped them. Managed to get a couple scores and seal the deal in the 4th. Much different than the 63-0 shellacking last year. Groveton was fired up at home and we battled for the dub. It was a good, stressful win! The way a rivalry should be! StingEmALTO
Go vote for this man! I know he’d be appreciative, and so would I! He’s up for Mr. Texas Football - Week 5. Interesting fact: his cousin, Vonte Mumphrey, was nominated for Mr. Texas Basketball - Week 12 this past winter before he passed away. Talented young men. https://www.texasfootball.com/player-of-the-week-award/?ref=subnav&fbclid=IwAR2vva-Vp9dBBHwzMBpMet06A0bqeNQlVCwXK1-i91cPuYmdPsFM76Xhezk Edited September 27, 2022 by StingEmALTO
