School shooting have caused more injuries and deaths than coaches driving buses. The Problem is in almost every small 4A down there are breaking Federal Law. If they fall asleep at the wheel god forbid they can loose there license and lively hood. It just takes one tired Coach running into an embankment killing 20 students to raise the awareness to the issue. Most larger schools hire buses to transport varsity football teams. It is sub varsity on other sports where coaches are expected to drive.
