Jalen Hurts strikes from pocket as Eagles go to 7-0

  • The Philadelphia Eagles remain the NFL’s only undefeated team as Jalen Hurts threw four touchdown passes in a game for the first time in his career in a 35-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

As the Eagles won their first six games of the season, Hurts had at least nine rushing attempts in each of them, with a high of 17. But against the Steelers, Hurts had two carries for 10 yards while he completed 19-of-28 passes for 285 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

  • Hurts’ performance was the 41st in NFL history in which a player has thrown at least four touchdown passes of 25 or more yards in one game.

  • Hurts’ passing-efficiency rating of 140.6 ranked as the highest of his NFL career.

How many Super Bowls has Hurts won? The same amount as Dak, the same amount as Marino, as Cam Newton. Stats look pretty but don’t fill the trophy room.

The same amount as Randall Cunningham, Donovan McNabb, and the last quarterback that Kirtfalcon loved "The Polish Rifle" Ron Jaworski.

2022 NFL midseason awards: Eagles' Jalen Hurts is the MVP; Seahawks' Geno Smith is Comeback Player of Year

Our picks for the top accolades halfway through the schedule

Eight weeks through the 2022 NFL season, we're at roughly the halfway point of the regular-season schedule. Some teams look like no-nonsense contenders (see: Bills, Eagles), and others look desperate for a spark (see: Buccaneers, Packers). A lot can happen between now and the end of Week 18, but we've gotten a pretty good picture of which clubs are primed to make some noise when it matters. But what about the individuals driving the best teams of the first half?

We're glad you asked. Here are our picks for major NFL awards at midseason:

MVP: Jalen Hurts

2022 stats: 1,799 passing yards, 10 TDs, 2 INTs, 67% completion, 105.1 QB rating, 303 rushing yards, 6 TDs

You wouldn't be wrong to suggest Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow or longtime betting favorite Josh Allen, each of whom buoy the AFC's elite with big-play production. But Hurts, the Eagles quarterback, is the heart, soul and steady hand of the NFL's lone undefeated team. Previously an elite runner and so-so passer, he's looked like an entirely different animal in 2022, also emerging as an authoritative downfield thrower. Besides being a bulldozer on the ground (his six rushing TDs easily leads all QBs), he's been more accurate, more efficient and just as explosive as Allen and Mahomes, with fewer turnovers.

Texans sacked him 3 times and forced a fumble.........lol

Who won the game? ...

It was another spectacular performance for the Houston native (21-of-27 passing, 243 yards, two TDs, zero INTs; nine rushes, 23 yards).

Tell you the truth he may wildly run but heck, I'd kinda like to see him stay and play the game.
