VA's QB Howard has been great the last two games vs Gainesville and Quinlan Ford. VA runs Spread with usually 3 or 4 WR to one side and then Howard finds the hole and takes off. Very fast and usually just has to beat 1 OLB to break it. DE's keeping Contain will be important. VA's DL and OL are stout.

Saying that, Carthage should wins this game handily.

Watched their game on tv late last night. VA will be in big trouble with that style of offense. Carthage will destroy them

Never will understand peoples thinking. Makes zero since. This game should have been in Lindale again.

If you were the VA Coach, would you give the #1 team who just played at Lindale the week before another advantage?  Uhhh no.  That’s also why the venue wasn’t agreed to earlier.  Little mind game strategy.  It’s not going to matter either way though.  Cool homecoming backstory for Surratt & Preston though.

Yeah, it’s kind of funny if VA didn’t want Carthage to play in Lindale again, and then ultimately decided on giving them a homecoming of sorts instead.

Ha.

The Van Alstyne Panthers are 7-4, with only 1 win over a team that is now over .500. They have won 6 of their last 7 games.

Lost 25-68 to Anna, a 4A D1 team that is currently 11-0

Lost 15-45 to Sulphur Springs, a 4A D1 team that was 7-4 and lost its bi-district game last night to Dallas Carter 33-37

For some reason this game scares me a little. Just with the fact the way VA runs there offense. Supposedly QB is 4.46 guy. OU baseball commit.

I will say this might be the best O-Line and D-Line we have faced. If we cannot win the trenches then this game could be a little to close for comfort. If we can win the trenches then we should be fine.

Carthage has played 11 games and the trench battle was never in question at any point.  Why in the world would you think VA could possibly cause a problem?

The VA coach already knows what’s going to happen. He knows they could play at home and still get destroyed. What my point is though is the drive. VA to Texarkana is between 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive.

When you don’t reserve stadiums until Fri night at 10pm for the following week, you take what you can get.  🤷‍♂️

Gotta be a story behind picking Texarkana.

Surratt and Preston were both coaches at Texas High when it won state championship in 2002. Texas High has also been renovated and arguably the best stadium in Northeast Texas.
