I don’t think Carthage would have anything to do with him leaving. They even discussed playing each other this year, but decided against it. He will face competition here or wherever he goes. You just have to figure how to beat those guys.

That’s easier said than done 😂

You are right and I know someone will jump on me for saying this but Gibson will play anyone in any classification. The big thing I like w him is even if you, I, or anyone else doesn’t think they could beat Carthage, the team believes they can. That’s a huge testament to Gibson. And I’m not riding his coattail. I hope they make it that deep this year.

You are correct. He is not afraid to play anyone, even the other Texarkana school. I have heard him talk about getting HS kids believing they can win.

PG had Linden on the schedule in 2016..they have been on a good run but some fans over do it imo. the players you mentioned at the next level were all apart of the 17 team outside of Martin that played Lb...not pulling against them but it’ll be tough the next couple years with the region being what it is.... I saw the new facilities but I wonder how long coach stays with his son being a senior .

LK is a good program, what’s your point?

Boy get out of here. Everyone in Texarkana knows which one won’t play who. Tx high coach will tell you it’s a no win for them. PG has tried for many years.
I do agree it’s a different level and most years TX would/should win.

Not sure why you say that. The facts are PG has had scrimmages with schools such S Springs, Marshall and Mt Pleasant. They have played a couple of Frisco schools and Shreveport Byrd. These are bigger schools and some are close to T High size. No one said PG would beat T High, just that Gibson is not afraid to play bigger schools.

Are you talking about a scrimmage? Texas High has a relationship to scrimmage each year an undermanned school in Longview with a strange nickname of Lobos.

If you are talking about a regular season game, there is one major drawback to the game - PG facilities. When Texas High played Arkansas High, each schools stadiums were comparable on the home/visitor seating. PG’s stadium was built at a time when the Hawk program was up and down. The visitor side will not accommodate the Texas High Band, Pep squad, and students let alone the parents of the nights festivities and loyal fans. Would PG administration be agreeable to play the game annually at Grim or have Razorback stadium the designated Hawk home site? I suspect that would be a sticking point to PG. I have attended THS-PG soccer games and the Visitor side at Hawk Stadium barely handled the Tiger fans.

Best of luck Friday. Hope you win.

It would not happen even if PG agreed to play both at Grim. Like I said, Tx High would win the majority of the time. There is nothing in it for Tx High to play the game and that came from someone that has the authority to make the decision. You are correct, no way it could be played at PG.

As a fan I think it would be fun, Tx High beat PG in volleyball this year and it was a great atmosphere. I have not attended a soccer game but I’m sure it was the same.

if I had to guess Marshall , SS and MP combined have beat T High 6 maybe 7 times since 99 . Marshall with at least 3 of those wins... it would be fun to watch if they did play but i still think there’s a pretty big jump ... Pg has scheduled some teams early in the year to help them when playoffs roll around. I think T High needs to do the same...I want both teams to make a run every season, last year was fun to keep up with having both  play in to the 4th round.

Given the dynamics in Texarkana, I would assume the last thing Texas High would want is to play PG. As long as PG is still a 4A D2 school it’s a lose/lose for the Tigers. If they win everyone will point to enrollment numbers and say you’re supposed to win this one. But if they lose, it’s definitely a bad look for the program and given how things tend to go down there. I would assume you run the risk of losing younger lower grade kids to PG.

Give me the underdog lil foxes. PG overlooked them before and will do it again……

No one is overlooking the Foxes; they are undefeated for a reason. That PG team was beat-up and just wasn't as talented at some of the skill positions. It is HS football and the better team does not always win. I just think in this case PG has played the tougher schedule that better prepares them.

Anybody here know enough about caddo to make a comparison?  How will indoor stadium affect the game?  Apparently caddo has a rising star in the backup qb that is now playing.

Yes the Dual-Threat So. QB Gonzales has really enhanced Caddo's Offense and allowed Lemmon to move back to his natural position of WR. Quinlan Ford only gave up 2.1 yards per carry to Caddo in their 7-6 loss. Caddo mostly used Lemmon at QB that game but he made a great catch to ice the game on the last Drive. Caddo TE Wasurik is really talented. He had 3 catches for around 60 yards on Caddo's only scoring drive.

Caddo's run D can hold power running in check but they have trouble with 4.5 and under speed. They held Ford to 4.1 yards/carry but gave 10.3 yards/per carry to Lincoln. Their pass defense is suspect with Ferris passing for 500+ and Sanger throwing for 300+ last week.

I'm still trying to figure out why this game is in Jerry World and ticket prices are $15 for an Area Football game. Sounds like someone is looking for attention.  I assumed this game would be played in Sulphur Springs or Mt. Pleasant due to the location of the two teams.

$17 with the processing fee. I was hoping for Mt Pleasant too. I guess the fans will be warm Sat night but I don’t think it’s for any extra  attention. The head coach is from that area and he usually does this once or twice a year. I’d say it’s more for the kids than gaining attention.

The Star has become like a second home for Gibson and PG. From regular season games to playoff games over the last 4-5 years I think it’s safe to say PG has played at the Star once or twice a year now.
