It's an illustration of what happens when people are in politics for over 50 years, too.

Imo, they’ve been doing it so long, and so successfully, they deemed themselves untouchable.  With this attitude they got careless.  The proof is there, with the evidence.  If Biden were a Republican the Washington Press Corp would be on him like white on rice.  They’d have him stuffed and mounted on the wall.  Be interesting to see if the Republicans leadership goes after them as they claimed.  If not, this attempt to overthrow America goes much deeper than I would’ve ever believed.

Think about this: Leahy, Grassley and McConnell are the three currently-serving longest-tenured Senators.

McConnel has been in the Senate almost 38 years. Grassley has been in the Senate almost 42 years. Leahy has been in the Senate nearly 48 years.

If we throw Biden in the mix, he was in the Senate 36 years. If we factor in his eight years as VP, that means he has been in public office for nearly 45 years at that point.

And here's a list of longest-tenured:

This is the problem. Look how many of them were/are in office 36+ years!

Just longevity in politics/Congress does not automatically make you a money grabbing, sorry low-life.  Some, not as many as we’d like, are legitimately good honest people.

That's true, but even the "good, honest people" I think start to feel a little safe, don't you? Even the "good, honest people" might start to feel untouchable after a while.

Sad but probably true.  Hey, Joe got away with it - guess I can too.  Human nature at it’s worst.
