If we start going down that road, we could wait until the semifinals and see who all is still standing, and decide which region of Texas will have the most teams playing in the championship games; whichever region has the most gets to host the event that year.

HAHAHAHA

Talk about a disaster that’d end up being..

This being fair thing or catering to anyone is silly.

AT&T Stadium is by far and away the best venue and location to host the UIL football state championships.

It doesn’t matter that DFW Metroplex schools have a home game for their title game, because life isn’t fair and we don’t always get what we want.

We definitely "dont always get what we want" but sometimes we do get what we want. In the current format, the DFW "always get what they want".

One of the best was to "get what you want" is to make more noise. I predict that the games will played elsewhere again at some point.

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is compare the crowds for college bowl games to the crowds at the State Championship games in Arlington. Traditionally, the 2A games outdraw some of the lower tier bowl games. You generally have to get to the New Years Six bowls before you see crowds that match the 5A/ 6A games. It will be very interesting to see this year.

I bet the 2A championship games outdrew the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth.

“DFW” doesn’t decide for everyone, they may get what they want because they don’t have to travel and can watch good quality football, but they don’t have a say in where the games are played that I am aware of.

I have no idea exactly what goes into deciding where the games are played other than I would assume how much $ the UIL makes.

At that point it’s a business decision, personally I am not a huge fan of a lot of decisions the UIL makes, especially when it involves $. They almost come across as bad as the NCAA. However, from a business decision perspective, where is the most revenue and profit margin at? What location will generate the largest attendance? Easy decision in my mind.

I’m not against it rotating around the state so the largest metro area in each region gets some fiscal benefit. At that point it can’t be just DFW, Houston, Austin, or SA…you would need to include Odessa-Midland, Abilene, El Paso, CC, Tyler… It is what it is, not everyone is going to be happy however they decide or what they decide.

I think for $, attendance, and overall experience they could not hold it at a better location than AT&T personally. It really is a matter of equal representation for the other parts of the state. It comes down to whether or not the UIL is willing to sacrifice the above to rotate it.

I bet if you polled the players across state as a whole they would want to be going to AT&T.

Especially those in DFW. Understand that the fans/players/coaches in the Houston area would overwhelmingly choose NRG. Those in San Antonio and south would overwhelmingly choose the Alamodome if given a choice. To think otherwise of intellectual dishonesty.

AT&T is a nice stadium, but there are very few at this point who are "mesmerized by the experience" to the point where they are willing to incur a financial hardship and logistical disadvantage, for their school and fanbase while their opponents do not incur the same.

We’re closer to NRG in Carthage than AT&T, but I still choose AT&T over NRG and really would definitely also choose Alamo over NRG.

It’d be neat to do the Alamodome one year if they can handle it as well as Jerry World does.

I’d enjoy going to San Antonio for state championship week / weekend.

Incorrect. Carthage is closer to AT&T.

Understood. You have changed your previous position of "location doesnt matter" to "AT&T > NRG by a country mile" which also happens to be the closest of the three to Carthage.

No I’ve not, just because I think AT&T is better than NRG does not mean I’ve changed my position.

Anytime, anywhere, location doesn’t matter still stands.

It’s been posted here on several occasions that the Alamodome is not a potential site due to lack of locker room space. The stadium that hosts these games has to be able to accommodate two teams getting dressed/ prepped while two others are playing. Based on what has been posted here, the Alamodome does not have that capacity at this time.

HTown is the armpit of Texas and a S hole........Anyone who thinks different is either from there or lives there currently other than that Texas as a whole dislikes Houston an doesnt wanna spend anytime in that S hole.

Houston will never ever ever get the state title games again and everyone is happy but Htown ppl.

I'd rather play at Alamodome or Waco than Htown.

Get over it people it aint never ever ever evr gonna leave Cowboys stadium again unless NFL has Dallas playing on Saturday again.

Your post reeks of ignorance.  Saying that a world class city with more fortune 500 companies located there than anywhere but NYC plus the top medical center in the world shows that you're nothing but a briar.  Houston has bigger fish to fry than worry about a bunch of yahoo's coming to town to stay at Motel 6 or La Quinta for one night and spend 15 bucks at Whataburger.  FYI,  the final 4 is being held in the armpit and that S hole stadium that has hosted 3 Super Bowls.  Houston competes with NYC,  LA,  Chicago etc. to attract the largest conventions,  not a bus load of minimum wage earners from God knows where in Texas.  AT&T can have high school games forever,  nobody here gives a rats rear end.

I am not a fan of Houston, but do realize and appreciate its importance to Texas and the USA.

The Port of Houston all by itself makes Houston vital to our state’s and country’s economy.

Houston has great food/restaurants, NASA, world class medical services and research, including cancer research to rival any in the world.

The fact that you think anyone can eat at a Houston Whataburger for $15 (unless they’re like you and dining alone) renders your thoughts on the matter irrelevant. And FTR, I’m not a fan of the DFW metroplex either. However, you are correct about one thing. No one in Houston gives a rat’s rear end about high school football. The attendance for the 2015 championships at NRG bear that out.

Whooooosh,  the sound of my post going completely over your head.  FYI,  I never eat at Whataburger.  Dog food.  Plenty of locally owned hamburger joints here to spend my money.  Now listen to Ma,  get out there and check the anti-freeze in the tractor,  gonna get cold.

NRG sucked big time, traffic was bad, food was bad, venue was bad, nothing was better ....

As long as Super Bowls,  Final Fours,  Wrestlemania,  top stars in the world at the Houston Livestock Show find it to their suiting,  then that is all that matters.  Reread my post,  yes we really don't care if high school football comes here or not.

Oh, I get it! You're one of those city guys who looks down on those who live in rural areas. That really validates your opinion on an East Texas sports forum! I bet you have an important job in the big city. Custodial Engineer? Waste Removal Specialist? Mall Cop?

The events will come to Houston because it's the 4th largest city in the country. Not because it's a wonderful place. I got no problem with it, but it's not recognized as one of the greatest cities in the world. The mayor and county judge are really helping make that worse.

There's multiple reasons why AT&T hosts the games...its the nicest domed stadium in TX, it's the most central location of the 3 domed stadiums to the teams who make state and to a majority of schools in TX...most importantly it has the locker room space that NRG and Alamodome don't have.

Barring major political pressure on the UIL I don't expect the location to change anytime soon

AT&T checks all the boxes better than any other stadium in Texas. As far as the home field advantage, Jerry Jones said if the Cowboys had exclusive rights to all the DFW high school players then all the players he would ever want would be those players . So maybe it’s not the location of the stadium but the talent of the players of the DFW schools.

Wow,  guess you told me.  Fact is if I were one of the careers that you mentioned in your post,  I would still make more money than 90% of all the people in east Texas.  But no,  I'm actually very comfortable in my position,  thank you.  Not looking down on rural areas at all,  actually from east Texas and still follow my old high school,  however was very fortunate to get out of there while I was young enough to make something of myself other than working the evening shift at the plant.  My post was not a comparison between different areas,  just responding to a post from somebody who obviously had his head stuck in a very bad spot.  Houston has been very good to me,  plus I had a blast growing up here.  Sure met a lot of people that moved here from east Texas.  Wonder why that is since it is such a horrible place in your eyes.  Sorry,  but it is a world class city,  with people from all over the world calling it home.  One of the most diverse locations in the US.  And despite what you and a few posters on Smoaky think,  people enjoy coming here and having a good time.  Conventions routinely return after a couple of years because people like it here.  And maybe unknown to you,  it is one of the fastest growing cities in the world.  So think whatever you want,  nobody cares.  As far as the mayor and the judge,  I agree with you,  but they are liberal democrats so that explains most of it.  In spite of these two,  it still thrives.  However,  I live in Ft. Bend county (Sugarland) so I don't deal with any of it.  Oh,  and sooner or later the high school playoffs will return to NRG and you and your friends can post about what a horrible place it is and time you had here.  99.9% of the people here,  including myself,  don't care and simply consider the source it came from.

For someone who isn't looking down on rural areas you sure are taking multiple shots at the fans who live there.

My grandson's school played playoff games this year at both NRG & AT&T. Both my grandsons loved both places but thought the rules they had to go by at AT&T were stricter. Understandable since AT&T had to work with 6 different teams on that day and NRG was only dealing with 2. I would say at least 6 of their games this year were in the Houston area. Both my grandsons enjoyed every game, including the bus rides to get there, whether it was Houston or Arlington. I also took my oldest grandson to his 1st NBA game that was in the Toyota Center. He loved it despite all the issues we had.

Personally, as a fan, my experiences with AT&T Stadium have been great. I've seen high school games there & college games and never had any problems. Same with the other pro stadiums in Arlington, Irving and the Metroplex. My experiences in Houston haven't been the same. The Toyota Center was horrible, although the people who work there are fantastic. NRG was not as bad but I doubt I would ever go back. MinuteMaid was fun but my best experiences in Houston were a long time ago at the Astrodome.

Bottom line for me is I'd much rather have the State Championship games all together at AT&T. As far as a regular season game or playoff game I'd much rather go to the great stadiums in NE Texas. We have plenty of good ones to choose from. The best Stadium atmosphere that I've ever been to outside of NE Texas is The Reservation in PNG.
