Dark colored urine does not equal rhabdo... if they have that then they have been dehydrated pretty badly the days prior. 7 push ups a min.. woukd you be sore yes. Is it doable.. by some yes. So you could do 20 pushups then rest for 2 mins and accomplish this. Or 40 and have about 4 mins rest. If for discipline, mental toughness, or boot camp style camp shouldn't have caused all this.

I had some dark colored urine when I was killing those natty lights before practice. However, I wasn't very good at pushups so IDK the results

Where was the sports medicine/training staff?

At our school they're always around. Workouts, practices, competitions. How in the world did trainers not see something awry, and immediately intervene before it got to this point?

Many programs have gone away from calisthenics. I wouldn't have believed it if I wasn't in coaching at one time. But a lot of kids now a days have difficulty doing push ups believe it or not. Very sad. One of the causes of Rhabdo is too many muscle tears. Not hard to believe the  kids that probably slack off in the workouts when being held accountable to do every rep, that this could happen. Especially when doing a full body exercise. Many of these kids abdominals were probably sprained because of how weak their core is. But from the indication they were not peeing any blood so it sounds like severe tendon sprains and muscle sprains. Say what you will. Unfortunately it will always be on the coach whether that is right or wrong doesn't matter. From the optics in the general population it's always going to be your fault as the coach in charge.

If you read all of the replies to the Twitter post you will see that the word is that those 12 or so were taking heavy doses of creatine which can cause severe dehydration!! So it sounds like they may have been severely dehydrated before the workout began. (If this is true, evidently the coach was not aware that they were taking this supplement and this is where his problem lies).

Ok that is very plausible and makes sense. Consequences for your actions. The kids knew better if this is true. No coach would jeopardize that.

Thanks to Twitter, social media is working again. Kind of been nice if we hadn't heard about it until they had finished investigating and reported the facts. Now that the story is out, everyone has an opinion without knowing for sure what really happened.

Creatine does not lead to dehydration. That is pure ignorance to a basic supplement that you can get adequate doses of by just eating meat. Also, to those of you complaining about it being 300-400 push ups in only an hour. Set a timer and do it yourself. Until all the facts are released all of you are speculating about serious accusations which put kids in the hospital.
