As a proud member of the Choctaw-Chickasaw tribe, Wahoo McDaniel excelled in football and wrestling at the University of Oklahoma before turning pro in the American Football League. Renowned for his bone-crushing tackles, he played for the Houston Oilers, Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins throughout the 1960s while pursuing wrestling during the offseason.

In 1969, Wahoo made the transition to becoming a full-time wrestler.

Terry Funk vs. Fritz Von Erich? Wow, that's a master class right there.
