The Kellen Heard hit (dirty one) wasn't what knocked him out of the game. Michael Bennett did with a clean hit. He was playing hurt already having been injured at KSU like a week prior. Then again I don't really know how "hurt" you consider someone who has a shoulder stinger.

Apparently the game in Lubbock in 2008 (Crabtree catch) the fans were so bad he said it made him hate Tech more than anybody else.

I believe it was a pinched nerve against KSU, which happened again against Bama in 2009. I thought it was a concussion against A&M? I honestly can't remember exactly
JohnnyFootball Posted July 18, 2019 Posted July 18, 2019 Nah it was a stinger... Cause I remember he got carted off and everyone was worried about him. Thankfully it was just a stinger, but then fans started jokingly calling him Cart cause he got carted off for a minor-ish injury. But yeah I get why he did- they don't mess around with head/neck injuries.

Mr. P Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 Interesting article: https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/27541845/big-weekend-texas-texas-rivalry-exist Quote That's the current state of Texas-Texas A&M. The game that brought us Ricky Williams rushing records, Jackie Sherrill's turnaround, the gut-wrenching emotions of a post-JFK assassination matchup with a Texas national title on the line, and that lasting image of Justin Tucker being dogpiled after his 40-yard game-winning field goal, Texas 27, Texas A&M 25 ... all of that, reduced to vicious T-shirt rhetoric.
JohnnyFootball Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 This article is stupid. Oh, look... In the middle of nowhere, they found two families of four who trash talk one another! Oh, and when pressed and pressed, the coaches gave political answers which were ambivalent at best. Both teams have bigger fish to fry. Texas needs to worry about beating LSU and Big XII teams. A&M needs to worry about beating Clemson and SEC teams. It's not a "big weekend" for any "rivalry". It's a big weekend for Texas who have a huge matchup at home and it's a big weekend for A&M who play the #1 team in the country on the road. Nothing to do with one another. 2
eagle34 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 I agree about the article, but the game does need to be played. Doesn't seem like the administration's are going to make it happen. Maybe the State legislature will step in and force it. Friday after Thanksgiving. 1

Are you legit hoping that politicians get their hands in on sports?

If that's what it takes, heck yes! Our State legislature has proved before when the SWC dissolved that they dont mind getting involved. I think that is the only way the rivalry will resume.

Yeah and it was bull that they did it then too. They have no business getting involved in athletics, especially to do something like force a rivalry that the teams don't want to play.

Are you saying the players dont want to play each other, they are the team? The Coaches dont want to play? The fans don't want the teams to play, or you talking about the Administrations?

If it does happen, I say make it early season. No way do they need to do it around thanksgiving. I’d rather keep scheduling marquis games and then instate or localized tuneups. Lol
Lhornfan Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 I'd love to have the game back exactly where it belongs and that's Thanksgiving weekend. All the admins that had anything to do with it are gone. Who cares who thinks they need and thinks they don't. It was one of college's best rivalry games, and the atmosphere was amazing!
WETSU Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 1 hour ago, DB2point0 said: If that’s the case it would be just as good in September. What’s your reasoning on why it shouldn’t be on thanksgiving if both conferences were willing to adjust the schedule to accommodate?

A higher ranked team can boost it's ranking or the underdog can knock their rival out of playoff or New Year's Day bowl game. Both Texas and A&M have done it to each other in the past. That's what makes in-state rivalry games great. The thinking to play in September is so a team can still win out to to get back up in the rankings. I'd rather have it in November with a lot on the line and a National TV audience. If both teams are out of the top 10, it would still be a big game. 1

Well for starters, Texas runs the big 12. If they want to play the game in November, it will happen. Period. That conference schedule excuse is weak. Secondly...Give us the satisfaction? Damn you’re one butthurt individual. 1

Think about how much more fun the game is in November vs September. Secondly, I want this game in nicer weather if it’s ever going to happen. To hell with these 98 degree kickoffs.

It’s been offered twice and turned down both times to keep schools like Lamar and Northwestern St on your schedule. That excuse is pretty weak too. Butthurt?! Nah. You guys whined and cried to get things better and in your favor, voted on the third tier rights, then blamed Texas for capitalizing on what you supposedly supported as your reason for leaving. I’d rather not play at all if it’s not early season.
