Destry
My first thought is that a good coach coaches the sport he loves and a great coach coaches the kids he loves.

Destry
I didn’t think in todays world that any coach had to coach more than one sport. With schools having 12-25 coaches aren’t they all “specialized”? Pet peeve of mine!

Doomer
Good coach pats you on the back, let's you play where you wanna and tells you great job ever time you do good and makes a play. Great coach plays you where the team needs ya slaps ya when you do a good job and calls ya out if ya don't.

Slickarick
Good coaches coach their players. Great coaches coach their players and the players coach each other. Great coaches build a culture and a "that's how we do things around here". They are able to pull talent from the least likely athletes. With great coaches, Players know their role and their job and do it at 100% whether they get a 100 snaps or 1 a game. They engrain an attitude of team over me. You have to have talented kids to do what Carthage has done. Suratt is great but he wouldn’t be winning state titles at a place like Overton or Cushing without some major move ins. 2

He would have more transfers in Tyler. The bigger challenge would be to ensure he had a compliance coordinator to ensure all the boxes were checked before they set foot on the field. Not as big of an issue at Carthage today.
