JohnnyFootball
A&M started with a sweep over Seattle. Not much of an opponent, but A&M did what they were supposed to do and beat them solidly in all 3 games. Funny enough, Seattle outhit A&M in games 1 and 2. But issues far more walks and made errors. Yeah that was an ugly way to start the year. Campbell, Daly, and Kennedy are the only returning guys in the lineup and Gordon is the only weekend starter back. Lots of new faces. EasyCompany
Lamar with another win, this one over Kansas State. That's a couple of big wins to start the year.
JohnnyFootball
Look out for Lamar! Good team they have this year. A&M's starting pitching has been disappointing outside of Dettmer. As has the bullpen. Way too many walks issued. Batting needs to get more timely hits, too. They've walked a lot, but you can't count on SEC pitchers to load up the bases by walking hitters. Too early to hit the panic button, but there are definitely things that need to get fixed.

But they started slow last year as well. The problem is the sec is more competitive in baseball than it is any other sport. You can be a REALLY good team and finish 6th in the west. Yeeeahhh being outhit like 10-4 and losing the game 10-3 against Portland is troubling. Can still win 2/3 but man. Ouch.

KirtFalcon
This is worse than football changing the rules to start the clock after an out of bounds play ... all in the name of more time for commercials .... less actual game time .... smh 2
KirtFalcon
What if the batter and the pitcher both take extra time before they are ready? Ball or strike based on who took the most time? This is ridiculous ....

Wait, so the team with the lead can stall and the penalty is to end the game? Why wasn’t the batter allowed to take the base? And I’ve seen time between pitches be much greater than this. This was absolutely ridiculous. 1

The video I seen the batter was in the box cocked and ready to go. Maybe he stalled before the camera got on him but IMO you don't let a game end on something like that.
KirtFalcon
Seems to me this rule leaves too much grey area that could be exploited .... if the batter takes up most of the allotted time but gets in the batters box, ready to hit, but then the pitcher starts his pre pitch routine again .... is it fair to call a strike on the batter? This looks like the case in this video .... why is the batter penalized when he was ready to hit but waiting on the pitcher? ....

And again, from the time the last pitch was thrown, to the ump calling him out, was not that long.
Red90fly
This Texas team is going to be a struggle hitting and scoring. Pitching seems OK. Just a ton of new faces everywhere. The Big 12 looks kinda' down this year. I'd be surprised if this Texas team makes a Super Regional.
