Gunter had one of the best presses i have seen and put as much pressure as any opponent i can remember in recent history for the Lady Raiders. Super quick and athletic and just gave us all kinds of fits in that first half. We weathered it and gained our composure at half and came out and did much better in the second half. You are correct, we cant afford to have that kind of first half Thursday. I just feel like we will absolutely be prepared and come out and play our best game.

The reason Gunter’s press was so effective is because the Lady Raider guards tried to dribble through it vs passing to break it in the first half.  I don’t have to tell you that Fairfield’s press will be as tough or tougher because of their athleticism on the front end.

Lots of really good quality teams making the trip. Looking forward to our Winnsboro Lady Raiders getting another shot at the champs.

I got to watch the Fairfield vs Rice Regional Finals game.  Fairfield is beatable but it will take Winnsboro’s best game of the season.  Unforced turnovers, low FG%, & missed free throws were the difference in 2022.  Hoping the Lady Raiders can get it done in 2023!

Any predictions on Lipan vs Martins Mill ?

Don't know anything about Lipan, but Martin's Mill is going to be tough to beat .... records can be deceiving depending on who they have played .... I pick MM to win out ....

They played once already back on Nov 21st and Martin’s Mill won 49-45.  Both have impressive resumes with wins against teams still playing.  I’m going with Lipan by 3 this time in a lower scoring game.

both responses are very reasonable, it should be a great game.

Give me Lipan as well. I think it will be a battle though. I knew Lipan was good but seeing them knock off the undefeated #1 Nocona by 14 in the Regional Final got my attention. MM is an absolute mainstay at the state tournament but have certainly not come out on top as much of those times as they wanted so i know this year they will be wanting that trophy

20-18 Fairfield at the half.  Neither team is shooting over 30% from the field.  Neither team has made a 3 pointer that I can remember.  Maybe Winnsboro rattled one home.  I expect both to shoot better in the 2nd half.  Winnsboro doing fantastic job on defensive boards.  Just gotta stop the unforced turnovers.  Conditioning could be a factor in second half.  Winnsboro rotating 10 players consistently, Fairfield only 6.  Acker has 3 fouls but can score at will as Fairfield doesn’t want any part of her inside.  Winnsboro stays on the court at half.  I love it.  Let’s get after it!
