This is what happens when you put a 50+ yr politician in the highest office with a bimbo as VP and demtard socialists as policymakers behind the scenes….Trump would have had the economic business sense to guide the country through post Covid recovery and would have everyone back to work….the 2 TRILLION dollars scam that SloJoe got passed and all the free money he has used to pay off the unions and political cronies on both sides of the aisle was causing the Fed chairman to push interest rates higher so now all the investors push their money into banks to earn interest….but now all the chickens have come home….Thanks Biden voters….you own this

As I understand it...until 2018 banks with more than $50 billion in assets were subject to Dodd-Frank regulations that required them to be adequately capitalized. In 2018 the $50B was changed to $250B...which meant that SVB ($209B in assets) was no longer subject to those regulations. When they hit a bump in the road SVB was under capitalized. My point is...it is not possible to over regulate the banking/financial industry.

I gotta ask...have you met a regulation (via the government) you didn't like?

I would have to think about it...but right off hand I can not name any govt regulations that adversely effect me. I am glad there are regs that limit over fishing...and that help ensure a safe food supply...and that control the amount of pollution vehicles can spew out etc. Maybe I am over looking something so feel free to throw out some specific examples of govt over regulation...we might agree on some of them.

What if those regulations started getting Orwellian?

Specific example?

Regulating the types and quantities of food you can eat. Or, even better, how about regulating how you can cook those foods? The Biden Administration wants to get rid of gas kitchen ovens. How about that?  That's not only going to (eventually) cause problems for restaurants, but for people who need to replace their oven in their own home at some point. Besides, if I'm not mistaken, restaurants use gas because it's more efficient (I think).

Also, how about smoking foods? What if they wanted to do away with that type of cooking? Do you know how much BBQ is smoked every day in America?

How about NASCAR? What if the government mandated NASCAR go all electric?

Yes......a free man doesn't ask for permission to fish or pay a tax to the tyrant's for the right that comes from God .......all regulations not voted on by the people are anathema to Constitutional government.........

Well, even though Biden has said he's not trying to (I was mistaken about that and I can actually admit it, unlike some others on here), there does seem to be a movement to ban gas in new buildings, if I read correctly.

So that mean that there are some regulations you'd be against.

How about my ability to set up my smoker outside and smoke myself some delicious ribs or a brisket? Should that be regulated? I mean, it burns charcoal and wood for hours, right?

I agree...if that free man is fishing in his private pond...but if he is fishing a public body of water his actions (ie..."fishing" with dynamite) can have a negative effect on others. Your right to throw a punch ends where my nose begins.......................

Where does someone's right to tell me what I can and cannot say, or what I can and cannot do end?

They also had billions tied up in extremely risky investments for the sake of ESG, DEI.  They weren’t concerned about their shareholders as much as they were a political agenda.

Everything is not "all or nothing". There is a huge difference between you throwing a rack of ribs (pork...not beef 😆) on the smoker for a few hours...and some factory pumping out so much pollution it blackens the sky.
