Mavchamp Posted March 31, 2023 Share Posted March 31, 2023 It's already a tough situation....but it's getting exponentially tougher the more time that goes by IMHO. Kids aren't stupid. They see how long this is taking....and it's hard to imagine that all this uncertainty is sparking any kind of excitement in the locker room. A lack of excitement is inevitably going to hurt participation. Nac had to cancel their final JV game last season due to numbers. That's just insane to me for a 5A school. A 1-9 season, a (seemingly) lackadaisical coaching search, another metro-area coach that seems to use ETX schools as stepping stones, an overall unsupportive football community, and a disengaged student body. Simply getting bodies to show up is going to be a MASSIVE undertaking. Not to mention you are now looking at assembling a coaching staff that won't even get to Nac till June or later. Even without spring ball.... a new staff could at least be getting to know names and possibly scoping out where the talent is. With no staff....there's absolutely no offensive or defensive systems being formulated yet. Does the installation START in August.....two weeks before the season? Yikes. Will there be any 7 on 7? And if it's not being spearheaded by the staff..... is it mostly a waste of time? I could be wrong....Nac may come out and put together a 6 or 7 win season in 2023......but it sure appears to be setting up the possibility of another season similar to 2022. And another 0-fer or 1-2 win season just makes it even harder headed into 2024. What a cluster. At least on the outside looking in. The kids deserve better. But NISD has certainly put the incoming coach behind the 8-ball and set him up for failure. They better be patient with him since they are the culprit to many of his upcoming difficulties. JMHO.
