All of the above programs are already financed by the 1%. Because they are more successful why do they deserve to pay a higher percentage than anyone else?

They are the only ones who have money left over.   Middle Class has lost buying power due to inflation.  The Middle Class has to have the means   to buy the rich man's product's or services.  If not we will all be equally broke.

We lost buying power is correct. Stagnant wage growth for the last 50 years ain’t due to inflation. Plus we get taxed to much as it is. 30% is ridiculous. Sales tax, property tax, capital gains etc. the answer ain’t tax more to the only people left. It’s cut entitlements. 6% flat tax!

Don't get me wrong , I do agree with cuts in all phases in govt. , but cuts to just pay for a tax cut for the rich is a no for me.

The government is the only group that treats people that way. Give them less and starve their power

The rich are the business owners. The rich own the industries that employ America. You decimate them and the country fails. What is wrong with letting the rich keep 60%+ of their income? We fought a war over 2% at one point.

What I've seen is 22 billion cut in Veterans benefits.

Cuts in Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, SNAP, and Meals on Wheels, etc...

but a

1.8 Trillion dollar tax cut for the top 1% wage earners .  Don't see Republicans even denning  this .  Just keeping it shushed.

The untouchables.  No matter how big and bloated these programs become, we can't talk about reducing the money spent on these entitlements.  All you have to do is say that the other side wants to CUT these programs and immediately everyone who believes the government owes them a living begins to clamor.

Don't forget, there are also a lot of "middle class" business owners, too. Not everyone who owns a business is "the rich". And besides, I know the book is dated, but have you ever read "The Millionaire Next Door"? You'd be surprised at what the "average" millionaire has and doesn't have. For instance, as of the writing of that book, the average millionaire didn't wear expensive watches like Patek Phillipe, Rolex, or those types of much more expensive watches. The "average" millionaire wore a watch that was $250 or less. Same with shoes, clothing, and cars. The average millionaire drives a car that's an average of two years old or older. Despite what Democrats might say, most millionaires likely aren't liquid, and aren't lighting cigars with $100 bills.

We can say whatever we want about the IRS.  Here's my thing:  Our tax system is unfair.  We love to quote Former President Thomas Jefferson's "All men are created equal" but we don't treat them that way.

Why should billionaire Bill Gates get taxed at 50% and old middle class Coach Rab be taxed at 10%?  Why should there be tax cuts for some, but not for others?  Why are there even tax breaks?  All of this was a way to make it where no one is created equal.  Loopholes and side doors for the rich that aren't accessible to the middle and lower classes.  Not to mention the part where all Americans should be taxpayers, but we literally pay people to not work, but then we hide those statistics and lump it into government spending.

A flat or fair tax on all Americans is the way to go.  I am also a fan of the National Sales Tax if we must have a tax.  I am big on the Taxation is Theft theory, but I am also not willing to revolt over the concept either.  I just find it to be absolute horse #### that in March, we have no clue what we are paying in or receiving back in most cases due to the ridiculousness of the IRS system.  In a real system, your taxes should balance out to $0 every year with no deviations.

That's what happens in a so-called "progressive" tax system.

The "argument" is, I think, that because Bill Gates can "afford" to pay more in taxes, he should (though no one can really tell you what his "fair share" should be).

Funny part of what i suggested is that it is a socialist idea to tax everyone equally, but if we want a fair and balanced economy we need that with no loopholes
