1993 Tatum(lost to SLC in a close one) and the 2010, 2011, 2013 Tatum teams.

2006 Gilmer. Watched them against Bishop Gorman that year. Thought they would run the table.

best Texas High teams in order in my opinion to fall short

after winning it all in 2002 I think most people thought they had another really good team in 2003.  Texas High went 13-1  Ryan Malletts first start in the semifinals due to qb missing the game

2006 was a very good team imo 12-1 . Beat HP 40-21 the week before and then ran into RG3 and Copperas Cove and got beat 30-27 . Ryan threw for over 3,200 yards that season.

2004 Texas High went 12-1 but Graham Harrell and Ennis had other plans.

2021 went 13-1 with a Arkansas High forfeit early in the year. Got beat 14-7 by Crosby . I don’t know about winning it all but it would have been nice to at least see them play that game with all the starters playing.

2007 9-3 another good team not sure if they would have went on to win it because of injuries but they did beat Sulphur Springs 55-21 earlier that year and they went on to win a state championship .

2005 Tatum woulda beat yall. And you shoulda seen how crazy our game with Canton was the following week.

You have your opinion and I have mine. At that time Gilmer was owning Tatum. Nobody was more excited that Gilmer lost that year than Tatum. And you guys had a good team........you also had maybe the easiest road to a state championship ever that year. But you won it and we didn't.  Can't take that trophy away now.

Gilmer was owning Tatum on both sides of 2010 but that didn’t stop Tatum from breaking that streak in 2010.

Joaquin

2005: yes I know they lost in the first round, but it was to a Big Sandy team that played Stratford a heckuva game in the finals. Had Big Sandy not had to forfeit a district game, we would not have played them until Round 3.

2022: Had a #1 Timpson squad on the ropes in district play until Terry Bussey put his team on his back. Caught a really good Cooper team in Round 3.

2019: won a round 2 thriller over unbeaten Alto at Abe Martin, but lost our leading rusher in the process. Groveton found a soft spot in our defense and our hamstrung offense wasn’t able to keep up.

2007: lost to two time state champs Alto in round 3. No one was able to stay with Alto in ‘06-07.

2009: yes they went to semifinals, and it was a heckuva ride. Couldn’t put anything together against state champ Goldthwaite. I just believe that the other teams beat better opponents. Signature wins for this team were over Mt. Enterprise and D1 RB Kevin Pope, and the regional final win over Reisel.

1997 Jacksonville got beat with 13 seconds to go on a FG by Texas City 22-20 in the 3rd round. JAX was loaded. Josh McCown at QB, Kevin Aldridge, Billy Jack Williams….. all went to SMU. We were loaded. Finished 12-1. Texas City had FIVE players sign with Texas.

@Matt you may or might not agree with me but that 96 team was just as loaded

Okay. That is not in question. That was a fact that JT lost.

You didn't like my opinion so I figured I'd try a fact. Let's try a couple more. JT hasn't made it past the 2nd round of the playoffs the last 4 years. Y'all have had a losing record in 75% of those seasons.

Glad you said this a lot of our fans outside of the forum have not understood how really bad its been with lack of coaching and development by Holmes. He literally took a top 5 program in 5A to a team that is now the homecoming game on the schedule. Pretty sad. But I do think rashaun woods will get Tyler back to dominant power within the next 2-3 years. I believe in what his coaching staff is doing to get our guys ready. and this team is not short on talent all. Here is my prediction for at least the next 3 years based on the talent we have and the changes you will see from coaching.

2023. 3rd-4th place with a first round or second round exit. 5th place at worst.

2024. 2nd place-3rd place, should have enough talent to go at least 3-4 rounds deep, could shock everyone and make a state run but that will be seen.

2025. 1st-2nd place, a lot of veteran players with a good staff coaching. Should be a top 10 team in the state and will most likely make a state run during this year.

If woods could put this together I think Tyler can be respected again.

1958 white oak was disqualified from the playoffs after a 70-0 round 1 playoff win. Hawkins coach turned WO in for a supposed ineligible player. We just came off a co champ finals game in 1957 with a young team and hadn’t lost a game. Ranked #1 all year and had beat Edgewood 70-0. It was one of the first years we were big enough to go to the finals. Coming off the 12-1-2 season that ended with a tie against Mart, we rattled off a perfect season and big bi district win in 1958. A bunch of locals and even players were severely upset with I believe his name was coach red from Hawkins.

I played against kinne when he was at canton. I laughed when he lost round 1. I remember saying that’s what he gets lol.

The 1950’s? Did your pappy tell you stories. Man White Oak has fell on tough times when you refer back to teams from the Eisenhower administration.

Those early 70s White Oak teams with Mike Barber were pretty stout  ... surprised they didn't win a State Championship or two .... they beat a really good Garrison team in bi-district when I was playing at Garrison  ....

All my years of watching and covering football 1988 Marshall still remains one of the best teams I ever watched. ..Also 86 Dfield who were almost as good as the other Tiger teams but they fell to what I still call one of the most underrated 3A teams of all time in 86 Jefferson.

This was the hardest hitting football   game I ever watched in person.
