You may get a call bro. It’s super late to hire a staff, unless the staff is coming with the HFC. I was told he wasn’t even there full time yet, which is bonkers to me.

Hes our head baseball coach right in the middle of a playoff run

Really glad he did, he has done a great job. Big series starting tonight vs. Tatum

I’m hearing athletes are coming back from the hallways, 2 are moving back that left, he gets to bring his own staff, they are pretty much fully handing him the reigns. So my question is, what is success year 1? 5-5?

1-9 is more success than last year.

Averaging 7 points a game, and still being 0-10 is more success than last year. Lol. But what is the ceiling here? 3-7? Idk. Wondering what the community expects.

I always love this comment with AD changes. Like those kids who chose to walk the hallways don't have a character flaw that will make them quit again as soon as the new guy has to be tough on them.

Willis left the new guy a much nice predistrict schedule than he inherited that is for sure.

They should go at worst 2-2 in predistrict and could go 3-1.

Other than Queen City I am not sure who they won't get blown out by in their district.

So to me 3-7 would be "success".

I don’t disagree completely. But I don’t think it’s that black and white. Get kids to buy in and I think you have a chance at keeping them. Kids didn’t buy in to the previous AD. From the stories I’ve heard from a few coaches there last year, I don’t blame them for not buying in. But that doesn’t excuse quitting on your teammates.

Hopefully touchdown plays. Lol

Don't get your hopes up.

Hughes Springs was going to be bad last year no matter who was the coach. Now, would they have went 0-10 with Edwards? Maybe, but they were going to bad. The talent is down.

What is the new guy doing on offense?

Kind of limited. Spread is out. Isn’t this guy from Winnsboro? I’m sure he’s seen the slot t being around Finney. I know it’s a boring offense but the kids are only a year removed from it. Might be the best fit if talent is down.

I'm not trying to be funny, but when exactly was the talent "up?"

They had a good stretch from 2010 - 2014.

But even from 2015 - 2019 they were still a solid them. From 2020 on they have just been beating schools like Ore City and Queen City and finishing in 4th place.

Bold prediction… HS has had 4 head coaches since 1990. They will have over 4 in the 2020’s. Welcome to being the revolving door.

I think that is just the reality of small school now. It's not 1997 anymore.
