I think I counted 23 kids dressed out last night. Marshall JV was good. They dominated in the trenches and ran the ball at will. Not much they can do when 15 sophomores are on the varsity. That group of sophomores are super talented. But the ones on the JV are getting a ton of playing time. Go JV Dawgs, stay tuff and work hard and get better.
cotton84 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Carthage 8th grade had a tough night offensively against Marshall…..only scored 60. 1

Gramps50 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 I’m a Maverick fan 100% but after so many years of playing Longview and several years against Carthage it just seems like Marshall is afraid of these to teams. You get your tail end handed to you year after year you get it in your head your beat before you ever take the field. The bad part is there are teams in 4A and 5A that play these two teams and make games out of them that I know Marshall could beat. With that year after year Marshall lays down. Both these teams need to be dropped from preseason. get this trash out of your heads and go out and make a game of it MAVS.

Marshall has the athletes year after year. Sadly, it feels like every time a coach makes headway, they leave. Talented players will skip JV and move on to varsity. We currently have 5 sophomores on offense on varsity. Not sure about defense. 5 sophomores on offense? I hereby amend my previous statement about it being hard to envision Marshall scoring more than 2 TDS tonight to more than 1 touchdown. My prediction is CHS 31, Marshall 10.

Is it just me are is this not very productive heading into district?

Mavchamp Posted September 16, 2023 Author Posted September 16, 2023 14-0 Carthage. Not sure how that wasn’t OPI…. But it was a fantastic catch.
mav01 Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 (edited) I'm sorry but that was a blatant opi on that long pass. Edited September 16, 2023 by mav01 1

Yea it was an offsides free play, but that's what gets me about Carthage. They get away with murder. The Mavs QB had a sure TD on the deep pass and threw it out of bounds. You can’t score of the ball isn’t catchable.

He can be deadly. Yet we continue to try

JohnnyFootball Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 If this isn’t a district game, it’s worth getting some snaps in and trying some deep balls.

He acts like he’s expecting to get hit and has happy feet.
