Franklin will travel to McGregor to take on the bulldogs in the district opener

Franklin is coming off a win over 4ad2 Jasper 29-14 while McGregor is also coming off a win over 3ad2 Clifton 35-7. McGregor has won its last two games.

McGregor always plays Franklin tough at home and has had big upsets at home in recent years.

Other games in district: Lorena 2-2 @ Cameron Yoe 1-3

Troy 3-1 @ LR-Academy 4-0

Rockdale BYE

Thoughts on these games

1. Franklin should have no problem with McGregor.

2.Cameron/Lorena could be close.  Cameron is not as good as they were last year, but I'm not sure Lorena is either.

3. Former Yoe head coach Tommy Brashear has Troy playing better ball, but this could be the year for Academy to make some noise.  The issue with Academy is their toughest non-district game was Lago Vista.

Franklin will have no trouble with McGregor.
If Yoe had the predistrict schedule of Troy, Academy, McGregor and Rockdale. (Rockdale did schedule Jim Ned who seems to be playing better ball this year.)
The Yoemen would be undefeated going into district. Yoe schedule was with 2 top 5 4a teams and a top 10 team in 3a. I tip my hat to Franklin and Lorena for scheduling 4a teams that are competitive in their regions.   This is Franklins district to win.  Hopefully 2nd place will be up for grabs.
Let the second season begin.

I'm hearing that Lorena has been banged up pretty bad but that could also be hear say. I think porter has been out with a leg injury

 1. Agree - Franklin is going to be Franklin, meaning precision and physicality.

2. Yoemen defense better improve and improve quickly in all phases or they may end up 4th in district. Offense not that impressive either in the last 3 games. Hope the play calling has been holding back for district to start.😀

3. I'm glad for Tommy but they played a weak schedule so far. The good news is the weak schedule may help their players get a little confidence before entering the death zone.

I agree the defense needs some shoring up.  The running game is nonexistent.
The play calling has been plain vanilla.
Not sure if the running game will get any better.
What will help is that the Yoemen are done with the 2 top five 4a d2 teams of Waco Connaly and Bellville.
What sits in front of them next is Lorena.
Doesn't get much easier.
I think the Yoemen will show more on offense and I believe the defense will make the necessary adjustments.
Fingers crossed.

No surprises. I believe Academy beat Troy , 49-21.

Big game with Academy next week in Lorena. Have the Bees finally taken that next step and ready to beat someone like the Leopards?  I could definitely see it happening.  Lorena getting Porter back will be important.  He has not played lately.

Cameron struggles mightily on the defensive side of the football.  The RB for Lorena nearly matched his season total in rushing yards (4 games) in one game last night.  If you're the Yoemen, you should probably be rooting for the Bees next week.  You do not want to finish 3rd/4th in the district this year.

I'm not sure you want to finish 2nd either.

Columbus, Hitchcock, and Yoakum all in the top 10

Yoakum is good, but is certainly beatable if you show up to play.  Brutal bi-district matchups regardless.  The games between those 3 will be something to watch.  Hallettsville does not appear to be all that bad themselves.

You are correct only thing with hallettsville is you don't know how good they are because they have not really played anyone yet. They are 4-1 but I don't know anything about San Antonio pieper

SOS is not there, but I'd have them in that 20ish range.
