HJR7 Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I know I am late to the party, but this should be entertaining. First district game for Kilgore after the gauntlet of a schedule for pre-season.
Aggie98 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Just piecing together Palestine newspaper articles..... The Wildcats have a powerful rushing attack with 3 or 4 quality backs led by returning senior Elijah Walker. They're probably averaging well over 300 yds/game on the ground. QB is a sophomore and they don't throw much.... less than 10 pass attempts per game. 100 yds is their best game through the air thus far. Defensively, the wildcats are not great. Gave up 40 to Nac, 46 to Jasper and 35 to Walnut Grove. They do apparently have a stud defensive lineman named Cole, #15. 1
Aggie98 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 According to Maxpreps, Kilgore's strength of schedule to this point is #1 in the state in 4A-D1. The Bulldog's lone loss was to Carthage by 3 in week 1..... a game that was ultimately decided by a blocked XP that was returned for 2. Kilgore's defense has allowed an average of 15 points per game in that stretch. 2
hornetblue Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Kilgore gets the win to open District! 1
WhoamI97539 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Well so far through non-district I will say the Kilgore D is their strong point. Now that district is starting the playbook opens up for the offense hopefully they let the QB loose more and let his athletic ability take over. The more a defense is worrying about trying to stop him running the more the passing game will open up. Through 4 games our QB is 44-77 for 649 yds 3 TDS passing , 29 rushes for 273 yds 5 TDS. About as balanced as can be passed for 649 yds and have rushed for 750 yds. They are averaging 162 passing and 188 rushing a game.

I know Kilgore played a harder schedule than CH, but CH has 1600 yards rushing and 650 on passing. I'm very interested to see what that Kilgore/CH game will look like.
TIMRIGGINS Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I think Kilgore gets the win here. It will be interesting to watch the stout Kilgore defense against that strong running attack. Should be fun!
cowboyandchrist Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Kilgore don’t let me down. I think you have the best defense in 4A DI. I also believe your coach will turn your QB loose as y’all get deeper in district play. Hope you and Chapel Hill meet for the district championship.

Haven’t gotten into our usual groove with the running game. I guess we shouldn’t discount that we had 2 of the best running backs we ever had the last 2 seasons… I would expect our running stats to take off any game now. Especially since we have a mobile QB

Lion7000 Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Any Palestine posters? What ever happened to that very optimistic fan! He was so good. Kinda disappointed when they’re not much interaction with the teams. Jacksonville, Athens , Palestine seem to lack the enthusiasm. Chapel Hill has improved since they’ve started winning again.

That's every team. Win and get more fans. Fickle. I'm eager to see how Pal fares against Kilgore. This will be a good measuring stick for them.

Palestine has it moments but jax and especially Athens is hit and Miss. I respect the guys that are here in the lean years.

Our offense didn't have many problems with Hallsville other than a couple of bad snaps.

I don’t think you fit that criteria. I remember him. His avatar had a cartoon mullet man. He was the eternal optimist. Kildogs are too much for the cats this go round. Palestine will start district 0-2, but they might can take that last playoff spot.
