The Alto Yellowjackets will travel to Mount Enterprise this Friday to take on the Wildcats; kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. The Jackets and Wildcats have only played three times in football: 1978, 1979, and 2022 all Alto wins. Mount Enterprise returns 20 lettermen with 2 lost to graduation; they have 9 starters back on both sides of the ball.

Both teams had a bye last week. The Jackets lost to Groveton the week before 44-20 while the Wildcats soundly defeated All Saints 60-8.

The young Jackets are still looking for that first win of a season that has been pretty harsh thus far. Is this the week?

ALTO VS. MOUNT ENTERPRISE
SERIES RECORD 3-0 Alto

2022 Alto 34-46
1979 Alto 0-70
1978 Alto 33-7

Why is Alto 0-5? Is their pre-district schedule that tough or are they just down?

Kind of both.  Young.  2 returning starters on offense and 4 on defense.  At times this season, 5 freshmen have been on the field at once.  The schedule:

3-1 Shelbyville
2-4 West Sabine
2-3 San Augustine
5-0 Garrison
3-2 Groveton

Had chances to win the SA game (2-point conversion denied in the closing seconds) and the Groveton game........but 3 fumbled kickoff returns in a row was the kiss of death in that game.  Just outmanned in the other games.  Probably most surprised by the West Sabine loss, but it is what it is at the moment.

That's tough returning that amount of starters on either side of the ball.

Good luck Friday Sting. Y'all gotta stop the sophomore Ash. He's a hard runner. I think Alto wins, but it won't be a cake walk.

Mt. had another RB Tyson Thompson that rushed for 146 and 3 td's last week might not want to overlook him.  He was one of the player of the week nominees.

Yes it is. AND we just had a partial JV schedule last year so the younger ones just don’t have a whole lot of experience, much less varsity experience. They are getting there, improving each week and working hard. Just gonna take some time.

Thanks Ripper. That sophomore RB was pretty special as a freshman. Very talented and hard to bring down. Definitely not gonna be a cakewalk.

At this point I don’t think we’re overlooking anybody! Lol They come in with more experience and we’re gonna have to minimize turnovers and penalties. I like our chances based on our schedule and I know they’ll give it all they got. Just hope it’s enough!
