Carthage hosts Van in District Championship Game

The defending state champion Bulldogs are 9-0 and have won 106 of their past 108 games (including playoffs). The 7-1 Vandals’ best hope for an upset win probably lies in their defense, which has only been giving up an average of about 3 TDS per game (just over 12 points a game in district play).

I see a a CHS win of around 35-14. How do you see it?

Just want a competitive game for once. Carthage is cruising to victory and wins by 30 in a struggle win.

If Carthage’s big guys come to play on defense, Van probably won’t score on the first unit.
If Carthage’s big guys on defense are just going thru the motions, this might be a close game.

Do I correctly understand that you believe in the latter case that Van could score as many points Friday against CHS as did Center last week?

Van’s offensive line may be the best that Carthage sees all year - in my opinion they are a little better than Kilgore since this is week 10 and Kilgore was week 1…..and Van’s line is better than P G

So, in answer to your question - yes………should they - no.

Thanks.

Sounds like a good test for Carthage. I suspect Coach Surratt will have them ready for it.

I full expect the Dawgs D line to grab another gear. Van is no slouch they will be fired up playing the Dawgs. I was very impressed with the Dawgs linebackers and secondary last week, they are now in playoff mode. The linebackers are attacking the ball as a group, secondary is coming up and making tackles. We expected a lot from this young defense and by George they have delivered in a big way. I too believe Van will be the second best team the Dawgs will have played behind Kilgore.
Coach Surratt and staff will have the Dawgs ready to play and we will see it.
Young Surratt has done an amazing job even with the few miscues, he still leads East Texas in passing and TDS.
Can you imagine how much pressure it is for any QB to lead a Carthage team much less a sophomore. My just look at all of the receivers that have developed over 9 games. Manning has improved greatly since last year, the other 6’4 receiver has been outstanding as well. It would take to long to name them all.
I can’t ever remember the number of quality running backs. I fully expect the Dawgs to win and I fully expect Van to represent the district well in the the playoffs.
Let’s Go Dawgs 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 and hopefully 🏆

God Bless Coaches, Players, and Fans.

I've been watching Van throughout football season on their ISD YouTube page and at  Lindale and then vs  Pine Tree and vs Paris and then 2 weeks ago vs Center, Van has a stingy defense that's going to make you earn it in  retrospect Carthage is not afraid to put up a lot of points on offense I watch Carthage on the NET Network on YouTube just  dismantled Center it was 51 to 20 something at halftime  and then Carthage put their foot on the gas pedal and put 72 points up on the board but Mother Nature is going to play a factor in this game the team that doesn't turn the ball over when's this game but I'm still going with the Bulldogs they are on a 25 game win steak  right now I don't think it's going to be broken no time soon, Franklin 30 Something game win streak was snapped last week makeing  Carthage has the longest win streak right now in Texas high school football best of luck to both teams I'm good friends with both head coaches I have had  a chance to talk to either coach over the years ,Carthage is on a mission to get State Championship win Number 10 that will  tied them with Katy and put them  2nd all the time most state championships in Texas high school football history I don't know if they going to get past Aldeo for most state championships but we will  see you in the next couple years Good Luck to Bulldogs and Vandals best May the best team win on Friday night, I will also have my eyes on the Friday night  app watching this game just like I'm going to be watching Tatum and Jefferson a lot of good games on Friday night to watch if you sitting at the house you don't want to get out because the elements cut  your  radios on or get on the football app and just scroll down. Key District ball games happening this Friday night I'm excited to see how everybody turns out and I pray no injuries from either team going into the playoffs.
