Tyler High “Cujo” 2024

Finished the season with a 6-4 record and missed the playoffs for the third straight season. With that being said the future for cujo is bright. A big portion of the office will be back next season. About the same with the defense. Now it will be a wait and see game. To see who will be in the new district and who will be on board for the preseason games. The run game the first part of this offseason that will need work. 
 

that is all I can think of right now.

that is all I can think of right now.

Next year we will compete for the district title and home field advantage, this team will BE REALLY GOOD! Can’t wait man!

I think either one or both defensive ends are gone next season, but the noes guard is coming back.

On def they lose both Def Ends, 2 LBs and Zach at Safety. But all the guys rotating in on D-Line are coming back. They will miss the 2 lbs and Zach, but the twin Lbs are back along with all of the corners and the other safties that started.

On off they lose a couple OL and a few WR including McFall and Martin. They lose a couple RB too, but they will have Arriaga and McMiller back and they got some upcoming WR that can play.  They had a soph that caught alot of passes and he will be back plus that fresh WR with the D-1 offers.  Qb back too.  Losing McFall will hurt.

They should make playoffs next yr and possibly compete for district title if same staff in place.

What number did Tyler high turn in? What teams do you think will be scheduled for non district?

McFall will be a loss.  But lots to look forward to, I think next year will be a big year for the Lions.

They turned in 2101.  Sure bet to be 5a Div.1. 

Schedules are tough to predict during realignment because teams don't know the amount of non-district games they will have. This is because you could end up anywhere from a 6 team to 10 team district.  Also, you don't know who is going up or down.   

Lee will likely be on their schedule.  That is about the only one I can just about predict. 

If Longview goes 6a and/or Lufkin goes into another district, I'm sure they will try to schedule them too.

Lee is on the schedule no matter what. We don't have to predict that game. If Longview moves up and they are in a 9 team district. I know Marshall is on the schedule. You can flip a coin between JT and Lufkin being the other non district game. I feel the same way for Lee. It will be JT and probably Lufkin if they are in a 9 team district.

I see the one guy is easily triggered. JT will bounce back and start contending. Will be interesting what district they have before you can start guessing on the predictions.

This has been the talk for the past 3 years.  Going to be better, going to make the playoffs.  How about holding off until it really happens?

2 bad season in 2 years y’all act like jt is Nac or something last year pretty much could tell they just gave up on Holmes they turned it around 6-4 from 2-8 it like Dallas people gone always talk about the lions they just hope they do bad cuss it been so many years we beat everybody so bad

I am talking about a revenue stand point. The crowd of people that would bring to the games. Let’s be honest that is the name of the game money. The more people in the stadium the more money either school district makes. Only one game this season was somewhat packed. Let’s face it, even when Cujo is winning no one really shows up to watch the game.

Dallas people?  - Lancaster and McNorth would be Dallas people and I think they have done quite well against Tyler.  Nac dosen't talk every spring about how great they are going to be only to fail miserable.  Wait until Tyler is the OLD Tyler to talk so much smack!

I understand.  But again, its a no win situation for JT in my opinion. So I wouldn't do it.

I would rather them play teams that are comparable to their talent level until they can prove to beat better teams. Chapel hill is not a pushover. They aren’t anywhere close enough to play with most of the good teams in 5a D1. Building the confidence in the program, and in the players, that they can win and not walking into games thinking they can lose.. that’s what happened with McNorth and Lancaster. The last two games oh the season showed Cujo where they are. Better than north but under Lancaster.

I like JT...even root for them but I don't think they will ever get back CUJO mode...

It takes a coach to build from ground up. We have to wait and see for next season. Once coach woods gets his offense setup completely in the middle schools. It will be next man up

We just got a new coach this season after over a decade. Gotta give him some time to clean up the mess lol. This team was already better than anticipated a few miscues kept this from being a playoff season. 2-8 to 6-4 is improvement, now you turn 6-4 to a 8-2 or 9-1

@JTFAN99 @NODAYSOFFTX that 5 year period...give or take a few years...when teams were flat out terrified of JT. From like '94-99 JT was bEast Texas. Physical on both sides of the ball! The best athletes I've witness. That period JT was the Duncanville/NS of East Texas. Y'all are coming though! Maybe baby Cujo's

I gotcha. 

from about 2008 to 2018 under Coach Rush and Coach Holmes were special too.  I would say they brought Cujo back.  Three Semi-final and three 4th round appearances during that time frame is just a step below the Cujo time you talked about.   

you never know how things shake out, with Aledo probably going up either this yr or in 2 yrs and if others schools stay up, its possible JT could make deep playoff runs again.  They will have a solid team on paper over the next couple of yrs. Lets see how that goes.  But I do agree, that deep talent pool is probably not coming back.  Too much has changed.
