Chill5000 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Lindale wins and it’s not an upset. #Beasttexas 1
LetsGoEagles Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 I think this game will fly under the radar some this week. DCTF is gonna ride IC’s nuts hard as they want to get on the bandwagon early (take a look at the photo for the 4A game time / place locations this week). They’ll give Lindale no chance. S2S doing the same. We’ll see. I expect a great, high scoring game.

CHDog77 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 Lindale uses the ground and pound and keeps IC offense on the sidelines (i.e. CH game ). Lindale by 14. #beasttexas 1
Raider20 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 After watching both, I have to go with Lindale by 2+ scores. IC’s defense is still suspect to me. Athletic group, but I just can’t buy into them with what they are about to face in this round. 1
EazyMoney Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 All 4 of the Area games in this Region are good and could be one score games. All 4 of the Area games include a team from District 12. 2nd year Iowa Colony makes their playoff debut without a Sr class. They are undefeated in this pretty competitive district with Bay City, Needville, and El Campo. I think this game against Lindale is going to be a shoot-out. Could be last team with the ball wins. Should be a very exciting game.

iRockNewbzz Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 Does Lindale have any passing game whatsoever in the event IC limits the ground game?
EazyMoney Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 IC couldn’t limit Needville’s rushing attack. I think Lindale will have success.

They are scheduled to move up to 5A-D2 and maybe even 5A-D1 next year. I can't find their enrollment numbers. But Alvin ISD seems to have a history of this, with Shadow Creek winning state in year 2 or 3 before they moved up to 6A. This is IC's second year as a school. It had just under 800 students last year, 9th and 10th grades only. About 1300 this year, with 9-11. Projecting 1760 next year in its first year with all four grades. IC will be 5A-D2 for the next couple of alignments, then 5A-D1 for one alignment. IC will likely move to 6A in the '30 alignment. This is all based on Alvin ISD's demographics studies on the AISD website. Shadow Creek played a renegade schedule its first two years ('16 and '17), then played in 5A-D1 in '18 and '19. State runner up in '18 (15-1) and champ in '19 (16-0), then moved up to 6A in '20. So SC made it to state in their 3rd year as a school, and won in its 4th year. On 11/10/2023 at 6:13 PM, Lion7000 said: Katy paetow was the most recent one a two year school that won state moved up a class and went 2-8 this year. Kinda impressive seeing a school come so far after starting up. Paetow opened in '17. Not sure if it played football that year. If it did, it was a renegade schedule. It was an average 5A-D2 in '18-'19, and very good 5A-D1 team in '20-'21, winning state in its 5th year as a school in '21. Coach BJ Gotte left Paetow after the '21 season and is now at Pearland. Paetow dropped off fast without him. Its coach in '22 was charged with felony sexual assault of multiple girls on campus midway through the '22 season, so Paetow is now on its third coach in three years. 1

I've been warning the locals about the area round all season. Regarding Iowa Colony - as others have said, no senior class yet. Beautiful brand new campus in it's second year right off Hwy 288 south of Pearland. IC has top end facilities for football - they could easily be a future powerhouse. The 288 corridor south of Houston is growing rapidly. This is Alvin ISD's 4th high school - Alvin, Manvel, Shadow Creek, Iowa Colony. The talent pool and resources are very much in line with what has been seen from Shadow Creek and Manvel in recent years. I live a few minutes from Alvin ISD's Freedom Field, which they share with Manvel and Shadow Creek. It's one of those modern Texas monoliths to high school football. A deep playoff run would be ahead of schedule this year for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go deep the next two years similar to Shadow Creek recently (we'll see how realignment treats them with a full campus next year). I suspect Lindale fans will be impressed by the freshman QB, Carson White. He's already a stud. The Pioneers have very good team speed. The offensive line is bigger and better than they should be lacking Seniors. Opposing teams have been able to run on them. They're stronger against the pass on defense and will intercept the football and otherwise generate turnovers. This isn't a team you get up on and try to milk the clock. They'll use speed blitzes from the edge to get negative yardage plays if you stop threatening them with the pass. They've been fun to watch this year. That come from behind win over Needville in Week 11 to secure the district championship was a heck of a football game. Needville's another one of those quickly growing suburbs outside of Houston. We are virtual neighbors. Assuming you are in the Meridiana or Sterling Lakes area. I'm a few minutes southeast of the stadium in an area that is still - at least for a little bit longer - rural. Fiber was recently laid down our road, which is now paved and has a yellow center lane dividing line (even though it is not really wide enough for two cars). Progress! We've been here for 30 years. 288 and 518 / Broadway was a two-lane road with nothing but a start a Raceway gas station when we moved here. I love going to games at Freedom Field, especially after 10 years of attending games at Alvin Memorial Stadium. IC, SC, Manvel - I go to all of them at FF. I was surprised Coach Garza had them play varsity last year. But after seeing the size (OL averaging 285lb) and speed of the 9th and 10th graders, it made sense. Plus, he had to try to out do his bosses at his previous schools. He was part of Kirk Martin's staff when Manvel opened, along with Brad Butler. Then he went to Shadow Creek with Butler when it opened. Now he's opened IC. Manvel first made the playoffs in its 5th year as a school (lost a three-way tie breaker in its 4th year for the fourth spot in its district). SC made it in its third year. So now IC has made it in their second.

With that said, IC has given up over 32 points one time all season - Needville scored 45 in a game that was for the district championship. Lindale has given up over 40 points six times, including 46 to Kaufman and 49 to Palestine. While the other four are understandable (Pine Tree, Van, Gilmer, Kilgore), those two aren't. Do you consider Lindale's defense "suspect"? A few stats on IC's defense: 90 TFLs, 38 sacks, 27 INTs, and 35 total takeaways. IC is +26 in turnovers for the season. Defense has scored 9 TDs (7 pick-6 and 2 fumble returns) and 2 safeties, for a total of 67 points.

Lindale's Defense is definitely the weak point for them because their Offense is really really good their massive Alabama recruits on the O-line they are good and big. The QB is their Jordan Jenkins Mr. Do Everything. He gets behind those Alabama offensive lineman and he does his thing. Kilgore gave him all the rushing yards he wanted Lindale would get into the Red zone but couldn't cross the goal line to put points on the scoreboard. Lindale definitely knows they will need to out score teams. The saying of whoever has the football last will win the game that's probably the best game prediction for who will win this game. Turnovers and which Defense will get that one last stop will play key.

Well that’s a good thing because that is what Lindale does. The pass game has gotten way better over the year but the run game is Lindale’s bread and butter. The offensive line is one of the best in Texas and Clint Thurman is a beast. Lindale won’t have problems scoring points. It will be if the defense can get some stops that will be the deciding factor. Our defense has been suspect at times but has gotten much much better. We held Chapel Hill to only 23 points and it was only 10 pints by the fourth qaurter and they have crazy speed. This should be a very good game 2

Sounds like it could be good defense...or sloppy play from their opponents. Averaging 3 takeaways and almost 4 sacks per game is definitely a recipe for success...
Bulldogs12 Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Lindale isn’t worried about records, rankings or stats. Win or lose they will be ready to play whoever is on the schedule. bEASTTX Tough 2

I think this game may be an instant classic along the lines of Needville 3 years ago in Bryan. Or Gilmer this year. Back and forth all night with whoever has the ball last punching in the winning score. Now watch, final will be 10-7 and a defensive battle. That's what usually happens when I open my mouth. 2
GoodOleBoy73 Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 I can definitely see it going back and forth, but I am not sold that IC's schedule has prepared them for what they are going to experience on Friday night. I could be wrong and I'll be here to eat crow if so...but they have a lot of hype. Lindale is typically the underdog...nothing new. 2
