I think that’s right.  You can’t miss him. LOL.  He is the biggest kid on their defense by far.

#1 ranked DT in the state if I’m not mistaken, they also use him at DE and move him around a good bit. I believe he also run a 4.7-4.8 40, that’s great but I’d be more interested in the 10 yard split.

It’s also worth taking a look at Jasper. What they did to cuero was impressive. They have a better O-line than silsbee. And more overall team speed IMO. To me Silsbee didn’t get better as the season went on and Jasper has. But Bellville is like Carthage and doesn’t have a lot going both ways and Jasper is like PG they have a good bit going both ways from what I seen

Watch the Silsbee game and see what he does to one of the 3 up backs guarding the punter on Silsbee’s 3rd or 4th punt. It’s devastating.

Has an offer from Alabama, among others

Uh... no. Until Carthage goes 4A D1 it'll be the same repeating thing every year. Kind of like Sam Houston State...they won the last 10 years in the Southland Conference and when the made the move to FBS things changed drastically. It's tough going from the biggest fish in the little pond. I mean that's their numbers but what's the challenge in it? Lol you can opt to going 4A D1 if the numbers are close enough...

If new projected numbers cor d1 cutoff are true we are not even close to be d1 nor will we ever be think they are projecting in the 900 range carthage turned in 780 this year and usually hovers around that 800 number don't forget all the d1 championships carthage won as the smallest in d1

What years were they D1? I forgot. I thought it may have been 14? But it was only about one or two realignments right?

Dave Campbell’s has it at 788…..but 780 or 788 is going to be a long way from Div 1, like you said. 👍

I'm thinking 13 was first year can't remember honestly when they presplit but our last year in it was when we won state in 19

Carthage also played in the Division I playoffs in 2007 (Coach Surratt’s 1st year) and 2012. Lost to eventual (and defending) state champion Liberty Hill in the former and in the state semifinals to El Campo in the latter.

Being close on the number is not required for moving up. Liberty is opting up and they are nowhere close.

We have dominated 4A-D1 in the past as well, why do people conveniently forget this?

You think anyone in 4A could’ve beaten us last year?  The next game was 4A-D1 state championship and neither of those teams were even close to as tough as Glen Rose.

My final 2022 rankings from watching games:

1. Carthage

2. Glen Rose

3. China Spring

4. Boerne

5. Gilmer

6. Pleasant Grove

7. Wimberley

In other words, almost half of our titles came in 4A-D1.

So, folks can stop acting like us being in 4A-D1 is any different or will keep us from winning state.

Eh, some years it might have and some years, DII was tougher.  It's really not a given whether DI or DII will have the best team from year to year.  Just depends on where Carthage is! 😉

Yep most years folks are thankful that Carthage is not there the field has a chance. I hate being an afterthought right now.

You’re correct, last year, we had a poor performance against a really good team and almost got beat just like last week against PG.

However, last year, realistically, no one was even in the same league as Carthage.

I know that sounds arrogant, but just watch our state championship game and then the 4A-D1 title game and come to your own conclusions.

And to your point, D1 isn’t always better than D2.

It depends on which division we’re in and then whomever else has a really good team that particular year.

Gilmer is in denial about it right now countless of other teams suffer from this. Good team . Some are worse than others namely kennedale probably the worst case. Heritage was pretty bad too.

What y’all did to Wimbery was very difficult for me to watch especially in person.  The amount of crying I did was embarrassing my friend who I was sitting with. Then when you put Suratt at there for mop up duty as a freshman put me over the top.
