I don’t disagree, and I’m certainly not proposing that CHS doesn’t need to be concerned about turning the ball over.  Just sayin’…

I hear ya brother I just hope for clean ball from the Dawgs

I preface this post by saying Carthage is a good football team, and the Surratt era will be of THSFB history.  However the title of this thread....... cringe.

Proverbs 16:18.  Good luck this week to all who are fortunate enough to still be in the fight.

FYI this title is not from Carthage. We are humble what we’ve been able to accomplish throughout the years. Good luck to the Mavericks.

Thread wasn't made by a Carthage fan.

That said, Carthage is always beatable. They are, after all, 15-18 year olds and football is a funny game. But they are well coached. People always like to talk about the talent, and there is plenty, but if anyone thinks Carthage has the most talented roster in 4AD2 year in and year out, they are sadly mistaken.  The difference is in the coaching staff and what they get out of the kids who will probably never suit up again after high school. 4A and bigger games aren't won by the best player on the field often times. It's won by the kid who weighs 165 and plays defensive end. Or the kid who practices his butt off all season to play special teams. Coach Surratt and his staff get more out of the "non-stars". And they game plan better than almost any staff in Texas. That's factual. It's not a pride thing. He has 9 rings to prove it.

Yeah but y'all don't have a kid who weighs 165 and plays defensive end. 🤣 At least not a starter anyway. I agree with everything else.

No doubt! Maybe that 165lb DE is on the 7th grade B team 🤔

Carthage may not have the most talent year in and year out, but I bet overall they have the most size.

It's really the big guys that win the games.

I know Center is usually as talented or more so at the skills positions, but Carthage is always way bigger up front!

This year's team is very big!

Imagine being a head coach for 16 years and winning 9 state titles....at the same program....and have a very good chance at winning the next 3. It's insane man, just insane. If I was him I wouldn't be able to help myself. I'd be audacious as hell lol. He's conquered 4A.....I'd try to opt up to 5A D2 and give her a go. Lol

Maybe he is content and love the success. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. $$ never an issue so after his boy grads I bet you might see a change. Rather it being 5a/6a or college. I highly doubt he will have the same success the second go around. I bet he is treated like royalty in Carthage. I wouldn’t be surprised if he never pays for bills or a drink in panola county lol.

I meant opt up to 5A D2 with Carthage dude lol. It was a joke. He has the town of Carthage by the gonads......of course he's got it made. He's a King in that town.

Oh, you can.....lol. Teams out West do it to save travel. But it's not logical in Carthage's case.

Why would you ? I don’t have any doubt they would go far because East Texas 5a isn’t that impressive. However, winning state would be like Longview. Get close but a high profile team would beat them.

#6 started at the position for several games when Carthage uses 4 down linemen(still plays a lot and may start again)………..So, tell me, how much does he weigh ???

Jesus Christ dude.....you even make joking hard. Yes...you can opt up. No, I do not suggest he does. Yes, he's beaten all the 5As he has scheduled. Yes he has whipped 4As tail end, both divisions. Yes, I made a joke about being audacious enough to go up and try to conquer 5A. Yes, it makes zero sense to actually do it. Yes.....the joke went flying right over your dad gum head.

I think anyone with common sense knew that you were not being serious…. a couple of folks see Carthage mentioned and get moist and can’t keep themselves from posting. I bet if they spent as much time following/ rooting for their own team(s), then maybe their team(s) would become successful and competitive against the Dawgs or Kilgore.

My feels? Boy, I been married for 14 years, got 2 daughters, a female lizard, a female turtle, and there's pink n purple garb in every corner of the house. Every feel I've ever had has been numbed away to nothing. Only other male in the house is a half shitzu/half pug named Reese that hates me more than I hate him. I been outnumbered and outgunned by females so long that nothing you say can effect me. I'm already dead inside.

Well, the ninth grade is loaded with linemen and a RB who has played some on varsity and the 8th grade has a good group of skill kids - with a QB and RB who both could be special…..just sayin it might just not be 3 more good years.

Son has two more years.  After that I bet he goes up in class.  To college

I doubt it. Want he be in his late 50's or early 60's. There will be no need to try go somewhere else when retirement is right around the corner.

So he'll be in his late 50's. 58 or 59 so to speak. There will be no reason to start all over somewhere else.
