PG almost never kicks field goals.  That lack of kicking experience will hurt in this game

yeah because Gibson is another coach that wants to run the score up as much as possible no matter the score.

I don’t think there score differential is much different than Carthage’s this year

Anyone can be beat at any time. I can guarantee you that Carthage knows this. I think this thread was created to stir the pot so that if they do get beat it makes a bigger splash and provides a designated spot to pile on the Carthage hate. I know successful programs get their fair share of 'hate' it's part of the game but the level of Carthage hate I have seen across various platforms is at a different level. And the cocky arrogant posts are almost always NOT actual people from Carthage. Every fan base has a few over zealous supporters but as whole the Carthage community is humble, kind and takes nothing for granted.

I think this weeks game will be a classic. With the amount of starters PG brought back they should be the favorite, in my opinion. I don't think people realize just how young this Carthage team is. So many of this year's starters took their first varsity snaps this year. In 2021 when CS beat Carthage it was a similar scenario, CS brought back pretty much all their starters and Carthage was pretty much in a rebuilding year with their offense. I mean they were about 2 games into the season before they really knew who the starting QB would be. So I am getting a little deja vu. Of course PG wants to position themselves as underdogs so that if they win it will be a grander media splash. Gibson has never met a camera he didn't like. Expect a flood of tears either way. I am going to pull for Carthage but think PG has the edge and they will play with a chip on their shoulder.  I've lost a lot of respect for PG for various reasons but to hear the way they slam and disrespect Carthage and other teams has definitely soured me. I have heard their fans and even their coaches call Surratt some very horrible names, very immature. And the way they conducted themselves last year when they played Carthage and several other teams, it's just not a good look. Sad really, PG used to be a program I admired a lot.

Praying for safe travels for all and a good injury free game.

I was at the game last year and I just don’t remember it like some on here.  I watched a player from Carthage make a tackle in that game near the pleasant grove sideline and he stood up and pointed at the pg coaches.  So things as you have pointed out probably goes both ways

If the player did that you can bet Coach Surratt had him running on the following Monday.

Well he did it

Both sides might as well get ready for a lot of smack talk Fri.  It’s just part of the game now.  You see the same thing in the Carthage vs Gilmer games.  Both coaching staffs and officials will need to address it early and often.

More times than not, it happens when going into the game, both teams thought they had a good chance to win, and one team gets a decent sized lead  - one team is pissed and the other team is full of extra energy.

I know which play you are talking about and earlier in the game when that kid ran out of bounds on the PG side, that coach got in that kids face and was yelling something at him and then shoved him. Not that it was ok for that kid to point at him but it was provoked by a PG coach. Surratt put that in check really quick, I have seem him bench star players for much less. Coaches are supposed to set an example and for the PG coaches to behave they way they did there is no wonder the players do the stuff they do. I work with a guy from PG and his son used to play for them and he said they would spend time in practice working on basically starting crap on the down the low to incite a response from the other team so they get a flag. That is trash and nonsense. That sends a bad message to your players, it says we are not sure you as team can get it done so here is how to play dirty and get away with it.

I started this topic, but after seeing what I’ve seen I think Pleasant Grove will beat Carthage next week.

I know that thought makes you giddy. I have been told you can't stand Carthage and always hope they lose. LOL. I have a feeling that is why you created this post, fan the flames and win more people over to your side.

Does Surratt get bored at Carthage?  Wonder what he thinks of all the success Traylor is having at the college level?  I know Surratt could be making millions at the college level.  He is almost wasting his talent coaching 4 a football.  He is like a major league ball player who chooses to stay in double a ball.  Would love to see what he could do against bigger competition.

This question has been asked many times and he has explained the answer many times.

Wish this would happen. A&M gives him a call win/win for me lol.

I don’t believe that one bit about the coaches.   There are a lot of fine coaches on that pg staff and you are bunching them all together as losers.   That sir is a losers mentality
