Serious questions (not being snarky, sincerely asking).

1.) I would like to know which 5A-6A programs have had multiple repeat state championships and/or at least multiple repeat appearances in the State game.

2.) Of those schools: how many are not in close proximity to major metropolitan cities and/or large affluent suburban communities.

Again, I'm not doing that thing where someone asks a sarcastic question they already have an answer to. I sincerely don't know the answers to 1. or 2., but I'm trying to find an apples-to-apples comparison to Longview's success/failure in order make some logical inferences.

Permian hasn’t been relevant in ten years and hasn’t made it out of Bi district or area since early 90s . Lee was twenty years ago. Not a good comparison

Permian's been to Rd 3 a couple of times but yes not statewide relevant in a while...I assumed Mr. P was talking about the last ten years or so....but I mean if you go back twenty years not sure in 6A/5A (or old 5A/4A) there's been many outside of DFW, Houston, Austin, San Antonio do it....I guess Longview was back-to-back finalist when they lost to Lake Travis...

I'm convinced Texas High would have gone back to back in 2003-2004 if the QB didnt get in trouble literally while the team was getting on the bus to play North Crowley lol

I don't have an exact timeframe in mind, but I am trying to keep it germane to our present day. There's no reason to go much further back than around the time that the "Texas Miracle" really revved up (circa 2008 to today) because we're really talking about almost a completely different state than today.

The population explosions of the metros (plus certain select suburban areas) during that time have irrevocably shaped the landscape of Texas, with various knock-on factors (such as the creation of Class 6A) that shape the current reality of TXHSFB today.

Exactly they usually get passed El Paso but have Slc , Allen, or some big name metroplex team . Great atmosphere there but I much rather have Longview ‘s history.

No need! We were already told that certain coaches would win no matter what the situations!

I think people forget that there only a handful of truly elite coaches in Texas. Even the elite coaches need to be in the right situation to succeed. Replacing a coach with a 90% winning percentage with the hope that you can do better is just crazy IMHO. Seldom is a program dominant for any length of time. Look at Allen, Judson, HP just to name a few. I can certainly name more programs who have fallen of the map than those who have taken that next step to a championship. Coach Samples like King could never win a championship despite his many close calls. He found a great fit and Duncanville took off. Ever wonder what happened to Skyline after he left. If the mindset is yearly state championship or bust, I can tell which one is going to prevail 99% of the time.

Lol I wonder how many Longview fans would've wanted to fire Samples before last season if he had produced similar results at Longview.

Forney will kill Lancaster. Aledo will kill Forney. Aledo will easily win State again. Shame.

Guess we will find out. I thought Lancaster was going to win.
