You said "not near as talented." I respectfully disagree. As a matter of fact, the defense may be as talented as any they've had, but they are young. When they weren't put in bad field position, they held pg in check.

The Dawg D line and linebackers dominated the fourth quarter.

Bordertown ,

I respect your opinion and enjoy your input.

However, calling the crybaby statement classless...my family and I were sitting at t blancos and were approached by a man who said "how much did you bulldogs pay those f@#$%ng refs?" Not drunk mind you... my reply was simply...the refs let stuff go from both sides...pass interference before half...holding by both lines all game...illegal blocks below the waist...he mentioned the offsides versus illegal procedures penalty...I asked if that cost as much as the sportsmanship penalty on the coaches?? He walked away muttering cuss words....

I understand your comments and make no apologies for for the those that blame their loss on others. If you go back and read this thread as the game was being played, the only person complaining about the officials was a Carthage fan. My point is both fan bases have idiots. I suspect if the outcome was opposite, Carthage fans would blame the refs. Why? Because the refs let their hankies get stuck in their pants for both teams. What I saw today were two evenly matched teams play a game either could have won. PG fans may be sore losers, but it takes away from high school athletics to bad mouth your opponent. Since the end on the game, this thread has been one unsportsmanlike penalty after another. Having enjoyed Scott Surratt and Darren Preston while they were at Texas High, I am happy for what they have accomplished for your community. Good luck going forward.

We have the D line and linebackers to stop their running game.
Silsbee did not have a defense.
Belleville defense is legit and 99 will be a problem. He is a man among boys well over 6ft and 294 pounds.
If we make it and they make it to Jerry’s House. Surratt and Preston will have the Dawgs read

I agree and think Carthage could shut that run down. They do run it with perfection though. Lots of tricky misdirection runs. They have a heck of a defense like you said.

I get what you are saying but it is ridiculous for PG fans to be approaching Carthage fans in public saying the crap they have been saying. The encounters that have been mentioned here are extremely mild compared to others that have happened since the end of the game. Some PG fans have even tried to get physical. Luckily as a whole Carthage fans are extremely classy and prone to taking the high road. One thing Surratt has taught his teams and the community is that there are no excuses.  I can guarantee you that no Carthage fan would behave the way PG fans have today. The complaints about refs during the game that you blamed on a Carthage fan, he is not from Carthage. He likes Carthage and always supports them but he has even stated in several posts on other threads that he is not from Carthage.  Sounds like you have no problem with PG's despicable behavior,  your only issues is people talking about their bad behavior. LOL

Carthage out coached PG. Carthage not near as talented as years past. 0 is great along with 14.

22 for Carthage is great as well. He is better than 0 between the tackles. A lot bigger and stronger. Can also run outside as well. Has great vision and balance.

There are 8 underclassmen starting on that unit - 4 juniors & 4 sophomores.

They (PG) are so used to getting home cooking from the officials they get their feelings hurt when they don’t get every call going their way.

if their coaching staff had not tried to make the entire game about the QB, they might have come out better. They did not utilize any of their running backs, it was just the QB Right, QB Left and QB up the middle.

Their RB has DI offers, just as the QB does. He ran exceptionally hard the few times he got to carry the ball. I join you in wondering why he didn’t get more carries…and why the big junior TE, who already has many DI offers, wasn’t thrown to more.

I ate at Butcher Shop in Longview, Texas. Saw people from PG and told them what great game. 1st words out of their mouth was yes except for all the bad calls and no calls against us. I immediately said oh you mean where your coach told your players to call out the snap count or the holding that never got called against PG. Bunch of cry babies. The referee let them play, could of called a lot penalties on both teams

The PG fans just thought this was THE YEAR and man does it hurt them to fall in round 3.   They have been waiting for this groups Sr. season since some arrived in the 9th grade and a few after that.  Truth is PG got beat by a team that never waivers when things are not going the way they hoped like today and prevailed in the end.

Leaving the stadium was also.  They started directing everybody out the back gate.  It took forever.  Worst entrance/exit for a stadium possible

Great facility but PT was not close to being prepared for that game and should have been.   They should have had plenty of people on hand for the nightmare parking situation.

Didn't say they don't have talent. I stated not as talented as past years.

You are 100% correct.  Carthage may be talented when they are Jr’s. & Sr’s. but today they are not nearly as talented as the teams that have the 9 titles.    They can be, just not yet.

Here are the facts.  PG only mustered 3 points after getting the ball twice inside Carthage 45 in Q4.  But still after that they got the ball with 4 mins and 3 TO’s left.  PG had the game for the taking and could not deliver the knockout blow.  It wasn’t the officials.

+1000.   PG was going to live and die running and scrambling with #2 which worked out until Preston and Surratt made it to half and had enough.   #2 fumbling and Carthage taking advantage was huge.   The 2nd half was dominated by Carthage.

In the bi-district win over Liberty-Eylau, 8 RBs had carries for Carthage. I believe only 1 of them is a senior.

you are correct. This is the youngest team Carthage has ever fielded. A lot of those kids took their first varsity snaps this year. That goes to show how superior the coaching is at Carthage.

Well, every team has big goals for the season. PG just seems to have a sense of entitlement. The whole season they talked about how we will not be denied, this is ours, or senior class deserves it. No one is entitled to anything, you have to go out and earn it. They didn't get what they thought they were entitled to and unfortunately are not handling it well. It is heartbreaking for the seniors but these moments are great teaching moments for kids. Teach them to handle adversity instead of whining how you were cheated and robbed.

Well here is my take on the game.
PG was loaded with talent and had many opportunities to put this game away. The Dawgs turn the ball over several times, dropped passes, give up covering receivers when they thought the QB was going to be tackled and get burned for two TD’S passes. But The Dawgs never ever think the game was lost. They made adjustments scored two touchdowns and tied the game up 28 all. Now comes the 4th quarter and the Dawg D starts to dominate PG. That is what Coach Surratt and his staff has instilled in the Carthage program. They totally out physicaled PG in the 3rd and 4th quarters. I knew when they forced PG to kick the field goal, the Dawgs were going win. You could see the momentum turn. It was two evenly matched teams that played their butts off. PG got out coached, they could not match the adjustments made by Carthage.
A packed house got to see one heck of a game today.
Congratulations PG on a great season.
I couldn’t be more proud of you Dawgs. You are Carthage.

I had issues with the game feed at some points in the game. I think it was more of an internet issue on my end. so am now going back to try to catch the parts I missed. Just a few minutes into watching I have seen 3 blatant PI no calls on PG, a late hit out of bounds, two illegal blocks and well holding on every single offensive play. The worst no call IMO, was late in the 4th on Carthage's last scoring drive, PG got away with not only a late hit out of bounds but it was a helmet to helmet hit, right in front of the refs. I am all for letting the boys play but those things you can't let go, someone is going to get really hurt. The fact they are crying about refs is mind blowing. Not sure if anyone else noticed but after it was over and they were shaking hands, several Carthage players went out to console PG players, a PG player comes from the sidelines and tries to start a fight with a Carthage player that was trying to console PG players. Other PG players had to pull him away. That programs has some real issues, no sportsmanship whatsoever. What a shame.

I've always wondered does PG coaches ever get sideline warnings? Over the years, I've noticed their coaches are always in the area they are not supposed to be in but I have never seen them get even a warning. there are times they are actually on the field during the play. I know I've seen Carthage coaches get many warnings if their toe is on the line. Just curious.  Maybe it just depends on the officiating crew.
